The desktop app handles tracking, while reports, timesheets and several management tasks are done in the web app.
What Clockify for Windows does
Clockify’s Windows app lets you record work time with a running timer or add an entry after the fact. You can associate entries with a project or task and include tags or billable status. Clockify’s Windows time-tracking page describes this workflow and also offers Auto Tracker as an optional way to review app and website activity.

Additional desktop options Clockify lists include idle detection, reminders, automatic timer start and stop, Pomodoro, a default project and offline tracking. These are optional conveniences; the basic timer does not require enabling activity tracking. Clockify says offline data syncs when the device reconnects, as described on its apps page.
What the free offer includes
Clockify says its free plan supports unlimited tracked time and up to four people. The company also advertises a seven-day trial of paid features. These are Clockify’s stated offer terms; check its current plan information for any changes before signing up. The desktop page also displays a paid seat price, but without enough context to establish billing cadence, region or current plan scope, so it is not a reliable standalone price quote. Install and track time on Windows
- Create an account: Sign up with Clockify, then download its Windows app from the official Windows time-tracking page.
- Start work: Open the app, choose a project or task if needed, enter a description, and start the timer. You can also resume an existing timer.
- Stop and categorize: When you finish, stop the timer and check the entry’s project, task, tags and billable setting before saving or moving on.
- Fill in missed time: If you forgot to start the timer, add a manual time entry and assign the relevant details rather than leaving the work unrecorded.
- Review your work: Open Clockify in a browser for reports, timesheets and project or team management.
Desktop app versus web app

The practical distinction is that the Windows app is useful for keeping a timer close at hand, but it does not replace the browser when you need to review reports, manage projects or invite people. Feature availability can change; Clockify’s desktop page is the vendor’s reference for its current desktop-versus-web description.
Auto Tracker is optional, and different from screenshots
Auto Tracker records app and website activity so you can review it and turn selected activity into time entries. Clockify says these records are saved locally on the computer and visible only to the user, as described on its Auto Tracker feature page. That statement is specific to Auto Tracker records; it should not be read as a blanket privacy guarantee for every Clockify feature or a description of an employer’s other monitoring tools.

Clockify’s separate Auto Tracker explainer says tracking begins for apps after they have been active for more than one minute, timeline intervals shorter than ten minutes are not displayed, and returning to an app within 20 seconds may be treated as continuous activity. These are Clockify’s descriptions of how the feature works and could change.

Screenshot monitoring is a separate enterprise activity-monitoring feature, not part of the basic Windows timer. Clockify’s screenshot documentation says screenshot capture requires a desktop agent and configuration, uses an adjustable interval and does not capture screenshots while idle.

Windows compatibility and current details
Clockify’s Windows help article calls the app a native Windows 10 application, but the article warns that its tutorial interface may not match the latest release. It does not establish compatibility with every Windows version. Check the current download or support page before relying on a particular system requirement: Clockify’s Windows desktop app help.
