The reported gains were 6.3× for Claude and 2.9× for each of the other two models. Those results describe one app and an incompletely documented benchmark—not a general ranking of coding models.
What the test compared
Johnson’s post, published October 5, 2026, describes a “janky” React Native Skia scene rendered with React Native Web in Chrome. The author says each model received the same prompt and that the same scene and harness were used before and after running Buoy Optimize. The comparison therefore focuses on reported changes in that app after optimization, not on a broad head-to-head test of model quality.

Reported before-and-after figures
The post labels these values as FPS. Its available excerpt does not define the counted unit or explain how the figures were measured, so they should be read as author-reported benchmark values, not verified frame rates.

Johnson also says the scene’s lights held at around 55 fps. That figure is distinct from the much larger values in the table; the excerpt does not explain how the two measurements relate.

What the results do—and do not—show
Within this single reported setup, Claude had the largest before-and-after multiplier. Codex and Grok each had a reported 2.9× change. Because the comparison is about what optimization changed in the app under test, it does not establish that Claude is generally faster or better at coding than Codex or Grok.
The available account does not state the exact model versions, hardware, run duration, number of samples, scoring procedure or definition of the reported values. Without those details, readers cannot assess reproducibility or determine whether the results would transfer to another scene, device or project. Treat the numbers as an account of one test rather than a general performance guarantee.

How to interpret the benchmark
- Useful signal: The post reports that all three model-assisted versions improved on the same scene after Buoy Optimize.
- Important boundary: The reported multipliers apply to that app and harness; they are not evidence of a universal model ranking.
- Unresolved measurement detail: Although the post calls the large values FPS, the available excerpt does not explain their units or calculation. The separate roughly 55-fps lighting observation should not be conflated with them.
