Anthropic’s current Sonnet 5.5 pricing lists cache reads at $0.20 per million tokens, not $0.10. Its Agent SDK credit program lists $100 monthly for Max 5x and $200 for Max 20x, but Team credits are assigned per seat and cannot be pooled or shared. These details reflect Anthropic’s official pages checked October 7, 2026.
Does Sonnet 5.5 cache reading now cost $0.10 per million tokens?
No. Anthropic’s September 28, 2026 announcement and its current Claude Platform model overview list cache reads at $0.20 per million tokens. Neither official page supports a reduction to $0.10, so the claimed price cut should not be treated as confirmed.

The listed rates separate ordinary input and output from prompt-cache operations. All figures below are per million tokens, according to Anthropic’s model documentation checked October 7, 2026.

| Sonnet 5.5 API operation | Listed price per million tokens |
|---|---|
| Input | $2 |
| Output | $10 |
| Cache write, 5-minute duration | $2.50 |
| Cache write, 1-hour duration | $4 |
| Cache read | $0.20 |
These are token rates, not a prediction of a particular application’s total bill. Actual cost depends on how much input and output a workload uses and how its prompts use caching.

What monthly Agent SDK credits does Anthropic list?
Anthropic’s Help Center lists monthly credits for eligible use of the Claude Agent SDK with specified Claude plans. It describes these credits as separate from subscription usage limits; they are not a general discount on all API usage.
| Plan or seat type | Listed monthly Agent SDK credit |
|---|---|
| Pro | $20 |
| Max 5x | $100 |
| Max 20x | $200 |
| Team Standard | $20 per seat |
| Team Premium | $100 per seat |
Anthropic’s Agent SDK credit terms also clarify that Claude Platform accounts using an API key do not receive a credit. The plan credits therefore should not be confused with credits applied automatically to standard pay-as-you-go API-key billing.

Can Team users share up to $500 in credits?
Anthropic’s published rule says: “Credits can’t be pooled, transferred, or shared across the organization.” Team Standard credits are listed at $20 per seat per month and Team Premium credits at $100 per seat per month. The table does not describe a shared $500 Team balance, and the sharing restriction conflicts with describing the credits as pooled among Team users.
How can caching and batch processing affect cost?
Anthropic advertises up to 90% savings with prompt caching and 50% with batch processing on its Claude Sonnet product page. Those are vendor-stated maximum savings, not guaranteed reductions for every workload; whether they apply depends on usage and fit.
Rank #3
Anthropic also says Sonnet 5.5 typically uses fewer tokens for the same work and reports up to 30% lower cost per task than its predecessor in its own testing, in its September 28, 2026 announcement. That company-reported task-cost comparison is distinct from the per-token rates above and does not mean every user’s bill will fall by 30%.
