After you search one item with Circle to Search, you can reportedly reopen the feature and select another object on the same screen. The second selection adds to a chain of visual searches, letting you explore related things without leaving the screen. It is a reported behavior, not a sequence documented in Google’s official help.
How the repeated Circle to Search trick works
Android Authority reported the trick on March 11, 2026, describing a demonstration by tech observer Leah Lundqvist and saying its staff tried it. After an initial selection and results, invoke Circle to Search again and select another visible item. The report describes successive selections as adding context to a chain of visual searches.

The report does not establish that the behavior works identically across every supported phone, app, or software version, or that results will always combine in a particular way. Treat it as something to try, not a guaranteed multi-object search mode announced by Google.

- Open the screen you want to search. Circle to Search searches content visible on the current screen, so you do not need to switch to another app.
- Start Circle to Search. Touch and hold the Home button or the navigation handle, depending on your navigation setup. Wait for the Search bar and gradient glow.
- Select the first item. Circle, highlight, scribble on, or tap the content you want to search. Review the results shown in the lower half of the screen.
- Invoke the feature again and select another item. If Circle to Search remains available, repeat the hold gesture and select a second object. See whether the new results help you explore another part of the same screen.
Google’s official instructions explain the standard search gesture and selection options, but do not describe this repeated-search sequence.

Which phones support Circle to Search?
Circle to Search is available on select Android phones, not every Android device. Google’s help page gives Pixel 6 and later as an example of supported phones; that example is not a complete or permanent compatibility list. Check Google’s current support information for your exact model before assuming the feature is available.
If your current phone already supports Circle to Search, this trick is a reason to experiment with the feature—not a reason by itself to replace your phone.

Adjust a selection or handle an unavailable search
If the initial selection includes too much or too little, Google says you can drag the selection borders or move the selection itself. This can help isolate the object you mean to search.

Circle to Search may not work in some apps, including banking, medical, or other confidential apps. If the gesture does not bring up the Search bar and glow, the app or device may not support the feature in that context.

What this trick reveals—and what it does not
Google describes Circle to Search as a way to search what is on your screen without switching apps. The reported repeat-selection behavior makes that interaction feel more flexible: you can try searching another object on the same screen after the first lookup. But neither Google’s help page nor the report establishes that every selection is interpreted perfectly or that results always merge into one definitive answer.
