Open DevTools, press Command+Shift+P on macOS or Control+Shift+P on Windows, Linux, or ChromeOS, type sensors, choose Show Sensors, and press Enter. Or use DevTools main menu > More tools > Sensors. Chrome’s documentation still lists Sensors as a DevTools panel; it does not establish that a particular Chrome update removed it. Chrome for Developers: Sensors Chrome for Developers: Device mode
How to restore the Sensors panel
The quickest way to find the controls is DevTools’ Command Menu. If you prefer menus, the same panel is available from DevTools’ main menu.

- Open DevTools. On most systems, press F12 or Control+Shift+I; on macOS, press Command+Option+I. You can also right-click a page and choose Inspect.
- Open the Command Menu. Press Command+Shift+P on macOS, or Control+Shift+P on Windows, Linux, or ChromeOS.
- Find the panel. Type sensors, select Show Sensors, then press Enter.
Alternatively, open the DevTools main menu and choose More tools > Sensors. These are two routes to the same panel, not different versions of the feature. Chrome’s guide calls it the “Sensors panel”; older references may call it the “Sensors tab.” See Chrome’s Sensors guide and its Device Mode documentation.

What Sensors lets you emulate
Sensors changes simulated device inputs so you can test how a page responds. It is distinct from Device Mode’s viewport and network or CPU controls.
#1 Best Overall
- Location: choose a preset, enter a custom location, or select Location unavailable to test a page’s response when location cannot be obtained.
- Orientation: choose a preset or configure a custom device orientation.
- Touch: force touch input for testing touch-responsive interfaces.
- Idle state: emulate an idle state.
For more detail on the panel’s documented capabilities, see Chrome for Developers: Sensors: Emulate device sensors.
If your custom location preset is missing
Custom geolocation presets are managed separately from the Sensors panel. Open DevTools Settings, go to Locations, and add a preset with a name, latitude, longitude, timezone ID, and locale. Save it, then select it under Sensors > Location. You can edit or remove saved presets from the Locations settings page. Chrome documents this workflow in its Locations guide.

If the panel still does not appear
First confirm that DevTools is open and that you are using its Command Menu or main menu—not a browser-page search field. Search for sensors in the Command Menu and check More tools in the DevTools menu. Chrome’s documentation describes those routes but does not identify a specific cause for an individual missing panel or attribute its disappearance to a particular release. If neither route exposes Sensors, the available documentation does not establish a cause; avoid assuming that a Chrome update removed the feature.
