Chrome DevTools Full-Size Screenshot Option Missing: How to Find It

Enable Device Mode and open More options to find Chrome’s full-size screenshot command. If it is not visible, search for screenshot in the Command Menu.

If Chrome DevTools’ full-size screenshot command is missing, enable Device Mode first. Then open Device Mode’s More options menu and choose Capture a full size screenshot. If you still cannot locate it, search for screenshot in DevTools’ Command Menu.

Find the full-page screenshot command

  1. Open DevTools for the page you want to capture.
  2. Turn on Device Mode by selecting the device toolbar button in DevTools.
  3. Open Device Mode’s More options menu.
  4. Select Capture a full size screenshot. Chrome’s Device Mode documentation puts the full-page action in this menu.

The command captures page content beyond the current viewport. By contrast, Capture screenshot captures only what is currently visible.

Look for the command in the Command Menu

If the menu item is hard to find, open DevTools’ Command Menu with Control+Shift+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+P on Mac. Type screenshot and choose the relevant screenshot command. Chrome documents this command-discovery route in its Command Menu guide.

Check the command’s name before selecting it: the full-size command captures the whole page, while the regular screenshot command captures the visible viewport.

If the option is still missing

Chrome’s documentation describes where to find the command, but does not establish one universal cause when it is absent. Avoid assuming that a particular setting, Chrome version, or DevTools layout is always responsible.

  • Confirm that Device Mode is enabled, then check its More options menu again.
  • Search screenshot in the Command Menu and inspect the available commands.
  • If neither route works, note your Chrome version, operating system, and whether DevTools is docked or in Device Mode before seeking further help. Those details can help diagnose the specific context.

There is one documented docking limitation, but it concerns a different command: Chrome says, “Area capture won’t work if DevTools is undocked from the window.” That statement applies to area capture; it does not say that undocking disables full-size capture. See the Command Menu guide.

For repeatable captures from code, ScreenshotNeo takes a screenshot through one API request. The example saves a WebP capture of stripe.com:

ScreenshotNeo API documentation

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor before capture and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides screenshot tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
