Which phone has the better battery?
On stated capacity, the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G has the advantage in India: Xiaomi lists a typical 9,000 mAh battery. Nothing lists 6,000 mAh for the India Phone (4b), and 5,200 mAh for its other listed regional version. Capacity alone does not show how many hours either phone will last. Xiaomi lists 67 W charging and 22.5 W wired reverse charging. Nothing says the Phone (4b) can reach 50% charge in under 30 minutes. These figures describe different kinds of information, and neither should be treated as a guaranteed charging time under every condition. No matching charging test establishes which phone charges faster in practice.

How do the displays compare?
Both phones list refresh rates up to 120 Hz. Nothing specifies a 6.77-inch Super AMOLED display with an adaptive refresh rate. Xiaomi lists a roughly 6.83-inch flat AMOLED display and specifies its resolution as 1.5K. That gives Xiaomi’s listing the clearer resolution detail; it does not by itself establish which display looks better.
Which has the better camera?
The specifications do not support an overall camera-quality winner. Both list a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization and an ultra-wide camera. Xiaomi specifies an 8 MP resolution for its ultra-wide camera; the cited Nothing specifications do not give a matching ultra-wide resolution figure.

Nothing documents 4K video recording. Xiaomi’s India specification lists rear video recording up to 1080p. That is a difference in the stated maximum video mode, not proof of better image quality in photos or video.

Do the processors make one phone faster?
The Phone (4b) lists a Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, while the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G lists a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. The names are distinct, but without comparable performance tests they are not enough to declare a speed or gaming winner.

What software support is listed?
Nothing describes the Phone (4b) as running Nothing OS 4.1. Xiaomi India lists HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 and states four OS updates and six years of security updates. A comparable support-duration commitment for the Phone (4b) was not established in the available product information, so the two update policies cannot be compared on duration from these details alone.
What is the price difference?
A reliable price difference cannot be calculated from the available figures because they are not a like-for-like pair. Nothing’s Germany store lists €329 for the displayed 8GB/128GB Phone (4b) configuration. The available information does not establish a current Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G price for a matching configuration in the same market.

Nothing’s India launch announcement includes launch and offer-specific prices, but those historical or offer-adjusted figures should not be compared with a current price from another country or storage tier. To compare prices, check both phones in the same country, on the same date, with matching storage configurations and any discounts clearly accounted for.
Which one should you choose?
