Use a WordPress page when visitors mainly need to understand your services and contact you. Use a WooCommerce virtual product or an Easy Digital Downloads (EDD) Service product when visitors should pay online. If customers must pick a date or time, use a booking product rather than a plain catalogue listing.
Choose a listing method based on what customers need to do

Build an informational catalogue with WordPress Pages
For services that need descriptions and an inquiry or contact action, create a parent page named Services and a child page for each offering. WordPress Pages are intended for content that is not time-dependent or part of the blog. The WordPress documentation illustrates this structure with a Services page and child pages for Web Design, Web Development, and Stationery Design: Create pages.

- In the WordPress dashboard, go to Pages > Add New and create the Services page. Add a short introduction and publish it.
- Create a page for each service. In the page settings, set the parent to Services, then publish the page.
- Add the Services page to your site navigation so visitors can reach the catalogue. Add links from each service page to the next step, such as an inquiry form or contact page.
As the catalogue grows, use Pages > All Pages to search, filter, and manage the pages: WordPress Pages screen. This route explains services and directs visitors onward; it does not create purchasable products or checkout.

Sell a non-shipped service with WooCommerce
In WooCommerce, create a simple product for the service and mark it as Virtual. WooCommerce identifies services as an example of an intangible item suited to a virtual product. The setting removes shipping-related fields and excludes the shipping calculator from the cart and checkout: Virtual and downloadable products.

- Go to Products > Add New and enter the service name and description.
- In the product data panel, choose a simple product and select Virtual. Set the price and complete the remaining product details needed for your offer.
- Publish the product. Check its product page and checkout flow to confirm the description and price are clear and that no shipping step is presented for the service.
A virtual product handles selling an intangible offer; it does not by itself let customers choose an appointment date or duration.
Use WooCommerce Bookings when customers need a time slot
For appointments, rentals, or reservations, use a bookable product through WooCommerce Bookings. Its documentation treats bookable products as the route for time-based services and rental options; this is separate from the core Virtual product setting. Follow WooCommerce’s guide to create one: Add a Template Bookable Product.
Sell a service without a file in Easy Digital Downloads
EDD’s product editor includes a Service product type. It removes the file option, so the customer does not receive download links after purchase. Use the product’s Notes area to provide information about what happens after purchase, such as instructions for arranging delivery of the service. EDD products can have a price and may offer multiple pricing options when those options fit the service. See EDD’s product creation documentation.

- Choose the Service product type, enter the offer details and price, and use Notes for customer-facing service information.
- Publish the product and review its purchase flow to ensure the offer and next steps are understandable.
EDD also documents a Downloads as Services extension. It can mark service categories or individual downloads as services, and service status prevents the purchase confirmation page from displaying the “no downloadable files” message for that purchase. See Downloads as Services.
Display selected EDD services in a list or grid
EDD’s [downloads] shortcode can display products in a list or grid. Its documented parameters include category, tags, number, columns, order, and pagination. To show only services, assign those products to a dedicated category and use the category filter in the shortcode. Check the current parameter syntax in EDD’s Downloads Shortcode documentation before adding it to a page.
For example, a basic listing begins with [downloads]; the shortcode’s category parameter can narrow the output to a services category. The exact values and other available parameters depend on how the products are organized on your site.
When a showcase plugin makes sense
A third-party services showcase plugin may be useful if a catalogue needs presentation features beyond standard Pages. It is optional, not a prerequisite for listing services. The WordPress Plugin Directory has a services tag listing; that category alone does not establish which plugin is maintained or compatible with a particular site, so check each plugin’s current details before installing it.
