To reach the level-45 story Abyss gate in Aion 2, raise your item level to 1000; you do not necessarily need 1000 to enter Draupnir. Current third-party guides report a 700 item-level threshold for Draupnir Expedition or Conquest, while the story gate requires 1000. Requirements can differ by mode or version, so use the live in-game entry window as the final check.
First, separate the two entry requirements
The 1000 item-level requirement is for the level-45 story Abyss gate described in current guides. It is not presented as a universal requirement for Draupnir. AllThings. How reports a 700 threshold for Draupnir Expedition, and Daeva Guides reports 700 for Draupnir Conquest in its global-version route. Those are guide-reported requirements, not official documentation; check the entry window for your region and mode.

Forgotten Commander is an Asmodian Episode quest. If you are Elyos, do not treat that specific quest chain as yours: AllThings. How describes a corresponding Elyos Draupnir story route, but the detailed walkthrough for Forgotten Commander concerns Asmodian characters.

Item level is displayed in the character interface. AllThings. How uses 20 gear slots at item level 45 to illustrate a base score of 900. That is simplified guide arithmetic, not a promise that every character with those pieces will display exactly 900. Use your own character screen to identify the remaining gap.

1. Improve weak slots with Regional quest rewards
Complete useful Regional quests and prioritize rewards that replace your weakest gear. AllThings. How highlights Liberator gear based on item-level-43 pieces and notes that Regional quests also provide Daevanion Crystals and Theostones. The value of a reward depends on which slot you still need to improve.
2. Use Draupnir if your score already meets its entry window
Draupnir Expedition can be an earlier gear source if the live entry window allows you in. The 700 requirement is reported by current guides for the global route, not guaranteed for every version or mode. AllThings. How also describes drops and a later one-time pity chest that can provide a Bakarma Breastplate with a level-54 base. Treat that chest and item detail as guide-reported, and verify what is currently available in your game.

The guide advises saving Theostones for the Spiritforged weapon and Guard from the Episode quest chain; weigh that allocation against your current gear and version.

4. Spread enhancement across your equipment
AllThings. How describes enhancement as adding item level one-for-one and recommends upgrading several pieces rather than putting all available materials into one item. It also describes socketing armor and weapons with Manastones, and jewelry with Soulstones. Use materials where they address your current shortfall; the guide does not establish a universally best distribution.

5. Spend Daevanion Crystals on item-level nodes
According to AllThings. How, white Daevanion nodes add 1 item level and orange corner nodes add 3. Blue skill and green passive nodes increase gear score rather than item level. The guide names Sealed Dungeons and unfinished Regional quests as sources of more crystals, so check those activities if you still have crystals to earn or nodes to unlock.
6. Finish other progression activities flagged on the map
Daeva Guides’ global-version route also recommends clearing map-marked Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds, completing the main story and Regional quests, and improving the belt and amulet through enhancement and Substance Morph. These suggestions complement the gear and crystal route; the source does not provide measured time-per-score comparisons, so no single activity can be called the fastest for every character.

Choose upgrades by availability and slot value
When deciding what to do next, compare the options against your actual character and the entry window rather than assuming one fixed route:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- Can you enter it now? Check Draupnir’s current entry requirement and any attempt limits, including Odyle Energy where applicable.
- Will the reward improve a needed slot? A drop or quest reward matters most when it replaces weaker gear.
- Does it raise item level or only gear score? The cited guide distinguishes Daevanion item-level nodes from skill and passive nodes that add gear score.
- What materials would the upgrade consume? Consider the value of spending enhancement materials, crystals, and Theostones across multiple slots and progression systems.
Where to turn in Forgotten Commander
The walkthrough for the Asmodian level-45 Episode quest chain lists Menrik, Kiara, and Ivar in Altgard and Draupnir before the final turn-in. After meeting the item-level requirement and entering Chaotic Lower Reshanta, take Forgotten Commander to Koro at the Asmodian Abyss Base. Koro is not back in Altgard.

Sources and version caveat
The route and mechanics above are based on third-party guides, not independently tested or confirmed against official game documentation. AllThings. How’s Aion 2 progression guide: AllThings.How. Forgotten Commander walkthrough: AllThings.How. Global-version progression guide: Daeva Guides. Requirements and rewards are version-sensitive; the in-game entry window takes precedence if it differs from a guide.
