The Samsung Galaxy S23 is the more compact phone and the one with a dedicated 3x optical telephoto camera. The Motorola Edge 70 Pro is much larger, with a 144 Hz display, a 6,500 mAh typical battery and 90 W wired charging. Choose between them by prioritizing handling and zoom versus screen size and battery capacity—not by assuming one is faster or takes better photos based on specifications alone.

Which phone is easier to handle?
The Galaxy S23 is the clear pick if you want a smaller phone. Its 6.1-inch display and 146.3 mm height make it shorter and narrower than the Edge 70 Pro, whose display measures 6.8 inches and whose listed height is 162.7 mm. The S23 weighs 168 g; Motorola lists Edge 70 Pro thickness and weight by finish rather than as one universal figure.
The Edge 70 Pro gives more screen area for video, games and reading, and its listed refresh rate reaches 144 Hz rather than the S23’s 120 Hz. Refresh rate is only one display specification; it does not by itself establish overall image quality or performance.
#1 Best Overall
- Galaxy S23 sports a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X flat display with adaptive 48–120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and a peak brightness high enough for strong outdoor visibility — giving you vibrant, crisp visuals and smooth motion while staying compact.
Which has the better camera setup?
The S23 has a dedicated 10 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, alongside a 50 MP main and 12 MP ultrawide camera. Motorola’s cited Edge 70 Pro specification lists a 50 MP main camera and a 50 MP ultrawide with autofocus and macro, but no dedicated telephoto lens. If optical telephoto reach is important, the S23 has the more directly relevant hardware.
These specifications do not establish which phone produces better photos overall. Megapixel counts alone are not a measure of image quality, and the available figures are not a matched camera test.

Samsung lists a 3,900 mAh typical battery and 25 W wired charging for the S23, as well as wireless charging. On stated capacity and wired charging wattage, the Edge 70 Pro has the advantage.

Are their performance and storage directly comparable?
The phones use different processor platforms: Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy in the S23 and MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme in the Edge 70 Pro. Without a directly comparable benchmark, those names alone do not establish which phone is faster.
The cited specifications list the S23 with 8 GB RAM and either 128 GB or 256 GB storage. The Edge 70 Pro is listed with 8 GB or 12 GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB UFS 4.1 storage; confirm which configuration is sold in your market. Neither cited manufacturer page lists microSD expansion.

- It offers a 6.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with adaptive 48-120 Hz refresh rate plus up to ~ 1750 nits peak brightness and “Vision Booster,” meaning the screen stays bright and viewable even in strong sunlight — great if you use your phone outdoors a lot.
What is the price difference?
A reliable like-for-like price difference cannot be stated from the available figures because a current S23 price matched by market, storage, condition and seller is not established. Motorola India’s official family page displayed the Edge 70 Pro in 8/256 GB and 12/256 GB configurations at ₹39,999, with an MRP of ₹51,999, when checked on October 7, 2026. That is an India-specific page snapshot, not a guaranteed checkout price or a price for other markets. See Motorola India’s Edge 70 Pro page.

Software support, durability and regional checks
Motorola’s cited support page lists Android 16 and “Up to 3 years” of OS upgrades and security patches for the Edge 70 Pro. The cited Samsung specification page is a hardware specification and does not establish a current S23 support end date. Check the latest support terms for your country before choosing based on expected software longevity.
Samsung’s cited carrier specification sheet lists Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and Armor Aluminum. Motorola lists IP68/IP69 and MIL-STD-810H for the Edge 70 Pro. These manufacturer-listed materials and ratings do not mean the phones are immune to damage, and their claims should not be treated as results from identical tests.
Quick Recap
- Confirm the exact regional model, storage and RAM configuration.
- Check that the phone supports your carrier’s network bands and the SIM configuration you need.
- Compare live prices for the same market, condition, seller type and storage before calculating a price gap.
Which one should you choose?
- Choose the Galaxy S23 if you want a smaller, lighter-to-carry phone or a dedicated 3x optical telephoto camera.
- Choose the Edge 70 Pro if you prefer a larger display, a higher listed refresh rate, greater stated battery capacity or faster listed wired charging.
- Compare carefully if processor speed, camera quality, battery runtime or long-term software support is decisive: the listed specifications do not settle those questions on their own.
