Choose an RMM That Fits Your MSP: 8 Tools Compared for 2026

Compare eight RMM platforms for MSPs by endpoint mix, PSA needs, pricing model, integrations, and trial criteria—without treating vendor rankings as a universal winner.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There is no single best RMM for every MSP. The right shortlist depends on your endpoint-to-technician ratio, whether you need PSA workflows in the same product, the complexity of your client environments, and how well a platform fits your existing security and service stack. Compare the tools below by those needs, then test your real monitoring, patching, automation, and ticketing workflows before signing.

What an RMM does—and what it may include

Remote monitoring and management (RMM) software helps service providers monitor and manage client endpoints, automate maintenance and patching, provide remote access, and remediate issues across multiple environments. Depending on the platform and package, it may also include or connect to PSA, ticketing, billing, mobile device management (MDM), or security capabilities.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

That distinction matters: a product described as “RMM/PSA” may consolidate some service workflows, but it does not automatically replace every tool in your stack. Check whether the functions you actually use—especially ticketing, billing, identity, security, documentation, and backup—are included, available as add-ons, or handled through integrations.

Eight RMM platforms to shortlist

The descriptions below reflect vendor-authored comparisons, not an independent head-to-head test. NinjaOne’s 2026 comparison includes NinjaOne, Atera, Syncro, Datto, SuperOps, N-able, and ConnectWise. TeamViewer’s broader September 2026 comparison covers 13 platforms and includes Kaseya VSA; ConnectWise’s June 18, 2026 ranking also includes Kaseya VSA. The lists and evaluation scopes differ, so they establish presence in those comparisons—not a shared verdict or independent endorsement.

Platform What the cited comparisons emphasize Pricing model described
NinjaOne Cloud-native endpoint operations, remote access, patching, and native multi-OS/MDM capabilities. Per device or endpoint; quote-based, with pricing varying by bundle, tier, and add-ons.
Atera RMM/PSA consolidation, monitoring, discovery, reporting, and AI support features. Per technician. Atera’s pricing article lists MSP starting prices of $129 per technician per month with annual billing or $159 with monthly billing.
Syncro Combined RMM/PSA, billing, automation, and remote access integration; comparisons position it for smaller or mid-sized MSPs. Per user or technician. Atera’s pricing article lists Core at $129 per user per month annually billed or $159 monthly, and Team at $179 annually billed or $209 monthly.
Datto RMM Cloud RMM with security-oriented capabilities, Microsoft 365 management, and connections to the Datto/Autotask ecosystem. Customized or quote-based.
N-able N-central Positioned for complex networks, with policy tools, reporting, discovery, remote access, monitoring, and patching. Per-endpoint model; quote-based.
ConnectWise RMM Broader MSP platform positioning, including PSA, ticketing, RMM, remote access, and automation features. Quote-based; may vary by technician and module.
SuperOps Unified PSA/RMM, with AI features and a built-in knowledge base noted in a vendor comparison. Per endpoint per month in one comparison; confirm current packaging and terms.
Kaseya VSA RMM option for MSPs aligned with the broader Kaseya ecosystem; a vendor comparison describes monitoring, patching, and automation. Endpoint-based and quote-based in the cited comparison.

The Atera and Syncro figures above are examples reported in an Atera-authored pricing article, not quotes collected from the vendors. The article does not establish a region or currency for those figures, and pricing, plan names, and packaging can change. Confirm the current offer and its terms directly before using the numbers in a budget.

How to match a platform to your MSP

If you want one product for RMM and PSA

Consider Atera or Syncro if you value a combined service workflow and expect endpoint count to grow faster than technician count. Both are described as RMM/PSA options and use technician- or user-based pricing in the cited comparisons. Model the annual cost at your own device-to-technician ratio, and verify that the included ticketing and billing flows fit your operation.

If you prefer a cost tied to each managed endpoint

Per-device or endpoint pricing may suit businesses that allocate software costs per asset or want a clear unit cost for managed devices. NinjaOne, N-able, Datto, and Kaseya appear with device- or endpoint-based models in the comparisons, though their actual quote terms differ. Compare the billable endpoint definition, minimums, and included modules rather than treating the licensing label as the full cost.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If you manage complex, multi-client environments

Prioritize tenant separation, permissions, policy inheritance, automation depth, and reporting across clients. N-able is positioned for complex networks in one comparison, while TeamViewer’s matrix explicitly compares multi-tenancy across providers. Treat these as shortlist clues: validate that the controls work for your client hierarchy and technician roles.

If consolidation is the goal

Assess whether built-in PSA, remote access, MDM, or security features reduce handoffs enough to justify migration and greater reliance on one vendor. A bundled platform can still require add-ons or separate tools for workflows it does not cover in your chosen package.

How to compare RMM platforms in a trial

Vendor feature descriptions are not a substitute for testing against your own client mix. Use a representative environment and a few recurring service tasks to see how the product behaves in practice.

  1. Check monitoring and alert quality. Confirm which endpoint, service, and network conditions are monitored. Tune thresholds by client and observe whether noisy or duplicate alerts create unnecessary tickets.
  2. Run a patch cycle. Check supported operating systems, scheduling, reporting, third-party application coverage, and the available remediation or rollback workflow.
  3. Automate a real task. Test reusable scripts, policy configuration, remote execution, and remediation on a representative endpoint. Note how much customization and technician effort the workflow needs.
  4. Verify remote access controls. Check supported devices, permissions, audit trails, and whether access is native, bundled, or supplied by an integration.
  5. Exercise multi-tenancy. Test client separation, policy inheritance, dashboards, technician permissions, branding, and operation at your expected tenant and endpoint count.
  6. Trace a service request end to end. Verify how monitoring events reach ticketing, how technicians update work, and how billing is handled. Include your identity, security, documentation, and backup tools in the integration check.
  7. Assess implementation and support. Ask about migration work, training, reporting, support responsiveness, and the operating burden on your team. Published rankings use different methods and cannot answer these questions for your environment.

How much does RMM software cost?

There are two common licensing approaches in the cited comparisons: per endpoint/device and per technician/user. A lower-looking price under one model can become more expensive at a particular MSP’s endpoint-to-technician ratio, especially when required features are sold separately. Build the comparison around total cost, not the headline unit price.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Several platforms in the shortlist are described as quote-based, including Datto RMM, N-able N-central, ConnectWise RMM, and Kaseya VSA; NinjaOne is also quote-based, with price varying by package and add-ons. Avoid treating an estimate from another MSP as a reliable price for your contract. Request a written quote that specifies:

Compare total annual cost at two or three realistic business sizes and endpoint-to-technician ratios. For the published Atera and Syncro examples, verify current plan names, billing intervals, currency, region, and terms directly with the vendor before relying on them.

What published rankings and ratings can—and cannot—tell you

The 2026 rankings cited here are vendor-authored, and their leaders differ because their comparison sets and criteria differ. Use a “best for” label as a hypothesis for whom to evaluate, not as proof that a platform will perform best for your MSP. The material cited for this comparison does not establish an independent hands-on test.

NinjaOne’s comparison displays ratings of 4.9 out of 5 on G2 and 4.7 out of 5 on Capterra, with the comparison identifying the featured data as of September 2026. These are review-platform scores displayed by NinjaOne, not performance measurements or controlled head-to-head results. Ratings and review counts can change.
