Chick-fil-A lists its standard Spicy Chicken Sandwich at 450 calories, 1,730 mg sodium and 28 g protein per 188 g sandwich. Wendy’s refreshed its U.S. Spicy Chicken Sandwich in April 2026, but its current official listing does not provide numerical nutrition values. That means the available figures do not establish which current sandwich has fewer calories or less sodium.
Nutrition comparison: what the official figures show
Chick-fil-A’s figures below are for its standard 188 g sandwich, based on standard recipes; customizations may change the values. Wendy’s current U.S. ordering listing describes the refreshed sandwich but does not expose numerical nutrition information. Its numbers are therefore marked “not stated,” rather than filled in from older or unofficial tables.

Chick-fil-A’s standard-recipe figures are from its official nutrition guide. Wendy’s current U.S. listing identifies the sandwich’s components but supplies no numeric values in the reviewed page content: Wendy’s Spicy Chicken Sandwich listing. The serving weights may differ, and Wendy’s current serving weight is not stated there.
Which sandwich has fewer calories or less sodium?
The available current official information cannot answer either head-to-head question. Chick-fil-A publishes 450 calories and 1,730 mg sodium for its standard sandwich; Wendy’s current post-refresh figures are not stated in the reviewed official listing. Comparing Chick-fil-A’s published numbers with older Wendy’s values would risk treating nutrition information for a previous recipe as current.

Why older Wendy’s nutrition figures may not apply
On April 2, 2026, Wendy’s announced a refresh of its U.S. Spicy Chicken Sandwich, including a new marinade, nine-spice panko-style breading, a potato bun, homestyle mayonnaise and pickles. Its current U.S. listing describes spicy-marinated, breaded chicken breast with lettuce, pickles, tomato and mayonnaise on a potato bun. Because the recipe changed, older nutrition tables should not be presented as figures for the current sandwich without confirmation. See Wendy’s April 2, 2026 announcement.

The menu descriptions show that the sandwiches differ in their listed components, but ingredient descriptions alone do not establish a nutrition winner. Chick-fil-A notes that its displayed nutrition reflects standard recipes and may not account for customizations; supplier variation can also affect ingredients.

Neither restaurant promises an allergen-free sandwich. Wendy’s says, “We are unable to guarantee that any menu item can be completely free of allergens,” and warns that shared handling and preparation areas can create cross-contact. Chick-fil-A likewise says supplier variation and shared cooking and preparation areas prevent it from ensuring foods are allergen-free. If you have an allergy or sensitivity, consult each restaurant’s current guidance and speak with staff before ordering: Wendy’s Nutrition & Food Allergens and Chick-fil-A nutrition and allergen guidance.

How to make a fair comparison
- Use nutrition information for the current recipe and the same market. Wendy’s 2026 refresh announcement concerns U.S. restaurants; menus and nutrition can differ elsewhere.
- Compare the same serving basis where possible. Chick-fil-A gives a 188 g serving; Wendy’s current listing does not state the sandwich’s serving weight.
- Check whether the figures cover a standard sandwich or a customized order. Added or removed ingredients can change the meal’s nutrition.
