How long is the Malwarebytes free trial?
It depends on platform and eligibility. Malwarebytes’ current download page advertises seven days of Premium features for Android and iOS. It does not establish that the same duration, features, or eligibility apply to every mobile device or account. A Malwarebytes Mac release note from 2024 described a 14-day Plus trial for eligible non-licensed users. That dated offer does not establish the current Mac trial for everyone. The reviewed current official materials do not state a universal Windows trial duration. For either desktop platform, use the terms in the offer you are actually shown rather than assuming a set number of days.
What does the trial let you use?
A trial generally provides access to paid features for its stated period, but the feature set depends on the operating system and the specific offer. Malwarebytes currently presents Standard for device security, Plus for device security with Privacy VPN, and Total for device security, VPN, and identity protection. The company notes that features vary by operating system; its plan page and feature matrix are more useful than assuming every plan includes identical tools on every device.

Free and paid use are not the same. Malwarebytes describes Free as a cleanup tool for attacks that have already affected a device, while Premium Security is intended to provide ongoing protection. Its feature matrix lists some scanning and utility functions as free and identifies real-time and other protections as paid on multiple platforms. Mobile feature categories differ, so check the matrix for your particular OS.
What happens when the trial expires?
Expiration does not necessarily mean you must buy a subscription to keep using Malwarebytes. Windows release notes document a guided transition from the trial experience to the Free version. The available tools and protections become narrower, and the details vary by platform. Check the feature matrix to see which functions remain available on your device.

If a payment method was attached to the trial, expiration may also be a billing date. Whether a charge occurs depends on the signup terms and whether auto-renewal is enabled.
Will Malwarebytes charge you after the trial?
Malwarebytes says subscriptions purchased from its Online Store have auto-renewal enabled by default. If renewal remains on, the payment method on file may be charged at the end of a trial or when a subscription expires. Some trials require payment details; other trials that do not request payment information will not charge at the end of the trial. Before enrolling, read the checkout screen and signup confirmation. Note the renewal date, amount and billing channel, and check whether a payment method is required. If you already enrolled, inspect the subscription page in the account or app store used for purchase.

The cancellation route depends on where the subscription was purchased:
- Windows or Mac bought through Malwarebytes: Sign in to your Malwarebytes account and turn off auto-renewal. The subscription remains active until its expiration date.
- Android: Manage or cancel the subscription in Google Play.
- iPhone or iPad: Manage or cancel the subscription through Apple’s App Store account settings.
Do not assume that uninstalling the app cancels billing. Confirm the subscription status and next renewal date in the relevant account or store. Malwarebytes’ support center provides account and subscription-management guidance.
Which plan is worth trying?
Choose based on the protection you want to evaluate, not merely the number of trial days. Standard covers device security; Plus adds Privacy VPN; Total adds identity protection. Before selecting, compare the features for your operating system, supported device count, renewal terms, and whether VPN or identity protection is useful to you. Malwarebytes also lists family and business options, which have different intended use cases. Its pricing page highlights a 60-day money-back guarantee, but check the applicable terms and exclusions rather than treating that as a trial extension or unconditional refund promise.
