Inventory every Check Point Security Gateway, Spark Firewall, and Security Management Server, then apply the fix specified for each device’s product and release in Check Point’s advisories. Both CVE-2026-85102 and CVE-2026-85103 can enable unauthenticated remote code execution and carry a CVSS score of 9.8. Check Point has also reported exploitation attempts against Spark customers for CVE-2026-85102, so exposed perimeter systems should be prioritized for patching and investigation.
Am I affected by CVE-2026-85102 or CVE-2026-85103?
Assess both vulnerabilities across your Check Point environment. They affect different components and have different scope qualifications; checking gateways alone can miss exposure on a Security Management Server.

Both scores are reported by CERT-EU and the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore. CERT-EU lists Security Gateway releases R80, R80.10, R80.20, R80.30, R80.40, R81, R81.10, R81.10.X, R81.20, R82, R82.00.X, and R82.10 among affected release families. It also identifies centrally and locally managed Spark Firewalls and Security Management Servers in the affected scope. Singapore CSA identifies R82.20 as unaffected. Confirm a specific system’s eligibility and lifecycle status with Check Point before deciding it is outside scope; CERT-EU notes that older R80.x, R81, and R81.10 releases are End of Support.

- Build a complete inventory. Include gateways, centrally and locally managed Spark Firewalls, and Security Management Servers. Record each system’s product and role, software release, Jumbo Hotfix Take/build, management mode, VPN configuration, internet exposure, and Live Patch status.
- Prioritize internet-facing and perimeter appliances. Give systems reachable from the internet, and systems providing VPN services, the earliest attention. CERT-EU recommends immediate hotfixing and prioritizing exposed perimeter devices.
- Include management servers in the same response. CVE-2026-85103 has Security Management Server scope, so a gateway-only patch review is incomplete.
- Track each device to a verified outcome. Record the applicable vendor fix or confirmed Live Patch coverage, the validation result, and any outstanding devices. Keep patch verification separate from the investigation for signs of exploitation.
Which Check Point VPN hotfix should I install?
Choose the remediation by the installed product, release, build, and management mode. Use Check Point’s release-specific advisories—not a fix listed for another branch—to identify the eligible package and its prerequisites and validation instructions:

R81.10 Jumbo Hotfix Take 190 is one documented example, not a universal fix. Its release notes say it was released September 14, 2026, includes fixes for both CVEs, and contains all earlier takes. Those notes establish applicability to that R81.10 take—not to other releases, branches, or hardware. Check the advisories above for the installed branch before selecting or installing a package.
Does Live Patch mean a device is protected?
Not by itself. Check Point’s initial notice said its Live Patch rollout began September 9, 2026, and that Live Patch customers would be automatically protected as the rollout began. That dated rollout statement does not verify coverage on an individual device now. Confirm current eligibility and status for the specific release using Check Point’s version-specific advisory and current tooling. If the applicable fix is not confirmed as active, follow the vendor’s instructions for the required Jumbo Hotfix and validate the result using the release-specific steps.

Do not declare remediation based only on a rollout announcement, a package download, or a change window having completed. Keep the device’s verified fix or Live Patch status in the inventory.

For a Site-to-Site VPN deployment awaiting a fix, Singapore CSA relays Check Point’s interim guidance to disable implied VPN rules and restrict UDP ports 500 and 4500 to known peer IP addresses. This is a limited stopgap, not proof that the vulnerability is fixed.

The guidance expressly does not apply to locally managed Spark Firewalls. It should not be generalized to every Remote Access VPN configuration. Use the vendor advisory or contact Check Point Support if the mitigation’s fit or implementation is uncertain.
How do I check for exploitation?
Patch status does not answer whether a device was previously targeted. Check Point’s initial September 2026 notice said there was no evidence of exploitation at that time; its later advisory reports attempts against Spark customers beginning September 12, 2026, observed globally. Treat the later report as a time-sequenced update. The later advisory reports exploitation for CVE-2026-85102; it does not report exploitation for CVE-2026-85103.

Review certificate-based Mobile Access logins
Check logs for anomalous certificate-based Mobile Access logins. Check Point has observed these certificate subjects, but says not to limit the search to them:

Investigate activity after suspicious logins
For suspicious logged-in users, examine follow-on activity, including internal port and service scanning. The listed subjects are not a complete indicator set, and their absence alone does not establish that a system was not targeted. Follow the investigation guidance in Check Point’s later exploitation advisory.

When should I contact Check Point Support?
Escalate if the system’s product or build does not clearly map to an eligible fix, if safe installation is uncertain, or if you need help assessing exposure or applying a mitigation. Check Point directs customers needing assistance with exposure assessment, mitigation, or installation to Check Point Support. For complex multi-device deployment or incident response, involve an authorized Check Point integrator where appropriate.
