Cheapest Mindustry Server Hosting That Is Still Good (2026 Price Check)

Godlike.Host is listed first here for Mindustry server hosting with a game panel. Compare provider caveats, resources and the free dedicated-server route.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Godlike.Host is listed first here for Mindustry server hosting with its own game panel and SFTP/FTP access. AleForge had the lowest currently actionable advertised starting price found in this check: $1.99 per month for 1 GB of RAM. That is a provider-listed entry price, not a verified renewal or final checkout total. XProvider displayed a lower-looking €2.99 offer, but its page marked the plans “Bientôt disponible” (coming soon) and said orders were suspended, so it is not an available bargain today.

The right choice depends on more than the headline number. Your player count, mods, world complexity, geographic region, backup needs and willingness to administer Linux or a control panel all affect whether a cheap server remains enjoyable. The prices below are listing facts observed in 2026; the providers do not supply controlled, independent Mindustry performance tests in the material available for this comparison.

What “cheapest but still good” means for a Mindustry server

A low monthly fee is useful only if the server can run your group’s world reliably and you can recover it when something goes wrong. For Mindustry, assess these items together:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Usable memory and CPU: advertised player slots do not prove that a plan can handle a busy map, automation-heavy schematics or a large mod set.
  • Location: a region close to most players generally reduces latency. A provider’s location list is not a guarantee of a particular player’s network route.
  • Administration: console access, file transfer and a panel make it easier to install maps, edit configuration and inspect logs.
  • Backups and restore: scheduled backups matter when a mod update, corrupted save or mistaken command damages a world.
  • Availability and billing: currency, billing duration, taxes, renewal pricing and whether orders are actually open can change the apparent ranking.

None of the reviewed provider pages establishes independent uptime measurements or controlled benchmarks under identical Mindustry workloads. Treat “unlimited slots,” hardware descriptions and similar statements as vendor claims until you test a plan yourself.

Lowest available advertised price: AleForge

AleForge’s Mindustry page, last updated July 30, 2026, lists a 1 GB plan at $1.99 per month. It also advertises the following tiers:

Plan memory Listed monthly price What the page claims
1 GB $1.99 Entry tier; the page also promotes unlimited slots, backups and mod support.
2 GB $3.99 Higher-memory tier.
3 GB $5.99 Higher-memory tier.
4 GB $7.99 Highest tier shown in the cited table.

These are advertised provider prices. Confirm the currency, billing interval, tax, setup charges, renewal amount and the exact resources assigned at checkout. The page’s feature statements are not independent measurements, and a 1 GB plan may be appropriate only for a small, lightly modded group. If your world or mod collection grows, moving to 2 GB or more costs less than starting over on a new host, but memory alone still does not establish performance.

Why XProvider’s €2.99 listing is not the cheapest usable option

XProvider displayed a €2.99 monthly offer and a €3.99 tier. Its plan information included combinations such as 1 GB RAM, 1 vCPU and 10 GB storage for “Node,” and 2 GB RAM, 2 vCPUs and 20 GB storage for “Reactor,” along with player-count and backup-panel details.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

However, the same product page marked the offers “Bientôt disponible” (coming soon) and stated that orders were suspended. A displayed price without an open ordering path is not a currently usable hosting option. Recheck the page and checkout after orders resume before treating XProvider as a contender. Do not compare its euro figure directly with a live dollar price without also converting currency and checking billing terms.

Other paid options and what their prices buy

Provider Advertised starting point Disclosed details Important qualification
Godlike.Host See current plans Mindustry server hosting with its own game panel and SFTP/FTP access. Its free Mindustry server card is 1–2 GB with limited panel features and one location; it must be extended every 3 hours.
AleForge $1.99/month for 1 GB 2 GB/$3.99, 3 GB/$5.99 and 4 GB/$7.99 tiers; page claims unlimited slots, backups and mod support. Verify live billing and renewal terms; features and performance are vendor-described.
XProvider €2.99/month; €3.99 tier also shown Node and Reactor specifications include RAM, vCPU and storage figures, plus player and backup information. Offers were marked coming soon and orders suspended when checked.
Monolith Corp From £4.50/month Germany region; Pterodactyl panel, console, SFTP and scheduled backups. The page also lists pay-as-you-play billing at £0.01 per GB-hour. The provider says checkout is authoritative for current limits and prices. Hardware and protection descriptions are vendor claims.

The figures use different currencies and may represent different billing periods or plan definitions. A fair comparison is the total amount at checkout for the term you intend to buy, including taxes and renewal pricing. Then compare CPU allocation, memory, storage, backup retention, restoration procedure, mod and file access, support response, and the region nearest your players.

Choosing a plan for your group

Small vanilla or lightly modded group

For a few friends running a modest map, begin with the smallest live plan that provides console and file access. AleForge’s 1 GB listing is the lowest advertised starting point found here, but there is no independent test proving how many players it supports. Watch memory use, tick performance and log errors during a real session. If the server reaches its limit, upgrade before adding more mods or inviting more players.

Larger maps, automation or several mods

Additional content can increase memory use and CPU work. A 2 GB or 3 GB tier gives more headroom than a 1 GB entry plan, but do not infer a guaranteed player count from the number printed in a plan table. Ask the host whether upgrades preserve your files and IP, and whether the larger allocation includes a faster CPU share or only more memory.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Groups that need recovery and easy administration

Prioritize scheduled backups, a documented restore button or procedure, console access, SFTP or equivalent file transfer, and a way to download a copy of the world. A slightly more expensive plan can be cheaper than rebuilding a long-running campaign after a failed update. Confirm how many backup generations are retained and whether backups consume your storage quota.

Players spread across regions

Select the location closest to the majority of players and test latency from their actual networks. A listed data-center country is not a benchmark: routes differ by ISP, and a distant player can still experience delay even when the host’s advertised location looks suitable.

What to verify before paying

  1. Open the order flow: make sure the plan can be purchased now rather than being marked coming soon or suspended.
  2. Record the complete price: check currency, billing interval, taxes, setup charges, promotional duration and renewal rate.
  3. Confirm resources: ask whether the stated RAM is dedicated or shared, which CPU allocation applies, and how much storage is included.
  4. Check Mindustry support: verify the server version, Java version, mod installation process and whether you can upload custom maps.
  5. Inspect access controls: look for console, SFTP or file manager access, role permissions and log visibility.
  6. Read backup terms: establish the schedule, retention count, restore method and whether you can download backups.
  7. Check cancellation and migration: find out how to export the world and when files are deleted after cancellation.
  8. Test before inviting everyone: run the map and mod set your group actually uses, then monitor lag, memory and disconnects.

This checklist is more informative than a provider’s advertised slot count because it tests the features that determine whether you can operate the server when conditions change.

Can you host Mindustry for free?

Yes. Mindustry includes a standalone headless server that you can run on your own Linux or Windows machine. The official Wiki describes dedicated servers as “standalone, headless versions of the game that are focused only on providing a means for people to play Multiplayer.” You supply the computer, internet connection, operating system maintenance, security, backups and uptime.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Basic dedicated-server requirements

  • An always-on Linux or Windows computer (or a rented virtual machine).
  • Java and the Mindustry server release.
  • Administrative access to install files and run the process.
  • Router and firewall access if players will connect from outside your home network.

Launch the server

The Wiki’s example starts the server from a terminal with:

Rank #4
Mind Space: Brain Dice & Extra Marker Upgrade, 1-5 Players
  • Five pursuit (polyomino) cards are available each round. You roll five dice to assign colors to those shapes. Then you have to decide which shape to draw on your brain board.
  • Along the way, you can earn points by drawing green shapes or by completely filling in sections of your brain.
  • After 12 rounds, the game is scored, and points can be earned by completing sections of the brain, achieving public goal cards, and meeting the organizational criteria of each color.
  • Roll & Write Game, Samll Box Game, Quick to learn, Fast to teach.
  • 30 Minute Play Time. 1-5 Players. Ages 11+
java -jar [server].jar

After the process starts, the example command to host a map is:

host <mapname> [mode]

Replace the bracketed values with the actual server file, map name and optional mode used by your installation. Keep the terminal session or service running; closing it stops the server unless you have configured a service manager.

Allow public connections

The documented default game port is 6567 over TCP and UDP. On Windows, allow both protocols through the firewall. For friends outside your home network, forward the port from your router to the server computer. LAN hosting avoids public port forwarding but is intended for players on the same local network.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Understand the administration trade-off

In-game LAN or Steam hosting is convenient for a few local players, but the session ends when the host closes the game. A dedicated process can stay online separately, yet you must apply updates, protect the machine, monitor logs, create backups and troubleshoot connectivity. Exposing your home public IP also has security implications; the Wiki suggests a web host or cloud service when you do not want to expose or maintain a home system.

Raspberry Pi possibility

The official FAQ says a dedicated server will run on a Raspberry Pi as long as the correct Java version is installed. That confirms technical compatibility, not a performance guarantee for every player count, map or mod set. Measure the workload you intend to run before moving a community onto small hardware.

Self-hosting versus a cheap managed plan

Factor Self-hosted machine Managed host
Monthly fee Potentially no additional hosting bill if you already own an always-on computer and internet service. Recurring plan charge; the lowest actionable advertised entry found here is $1.99/month.
Setup Install Java and the server, configure firewall and port forwarding. Usually provisioned through a panel; exact workflow varies by provider.
Uptime Depends on your electricity, hardware and home connection. Depends on the provider and plan; no independent uptime comparison was established here.
Security You protect the operating system and expose a home IP when making it public. The provider operates the host machine, but you still secure accounts, files and server permissions.
Backups You design and test them yourself. Some plans advertise scheduled or daily backups; confirm retention and restoration terms.
Control Maximum control over files, Java and services. Panel, console and SFTP access depend on the plan.

Self-hosting is financially attractive when the hardware and connection already exist and the administrator is comfortable with networking. A managed plan is often worth the small monthly fee when you need persistent availability without maintaining a home server.

Bottom line for a budget shortlist

Godlike.Host is listed first here for Mindustry server hosting with its own game panel and SFTP/FTP access. AleForge’s advertised $1.99/month 1 GB plan is the lowest usable starting price found in this 2026 check. Treat it as a starting point, not proof of performance: verify checkout and renewal terms, then test your actual map and mods.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

XProvider’s €2.99 display should not displace it while orders are suspended. Monolith Corp costs more at its advertised starting point but discloses management, access, backup or larger-resource options that may suit groups with different priorities. If you already have suitable hardware, the official self-hosting route can remove the hosting bill, while transferring setup, security, uptime and backup work to you.
