Charting the Unknown lists 150 GB of available storage on Steam for both Windows and macOS. Steam and Epic say an SSD is required for Windows. That 150 GB is a published system requirement, not a stated DLC-only download size or an additional 150 GB on top of the base game.
The expansion requires the base game. The official store listings reviewed on October 3, 2026, do not specify how much extra space its download or installation will use beyond the base game.

Steam provides the detailed Windows and macOS specifications below. Epic independently lists Windows requirements; its minimum AMD graphics-card entry differs from Steam’s.

How much storage does the DLC need?
The storefront requirement is 150 GB available space. Neither the Steam nor Epic listing gives a separate figure for the DLC’s incremental download or installed size beyond the base game, so the published 150 GB should not be treated as the expansion’s own size or added to the base game’s storage requirement.
Steam states that the base game is required to play the DLC. Keep the listed available-space requirement in view when planning an installation, but the official listings do not establish how much additional space this particular expansion will consume.

Does Charting the Unknown require an SSD?
For Windows, yes: both Steam and Epic list an SSD as required. The macOS requirements on Steam do not separately state an SSD requirement.
Which minimum AMD graphics card should you use?
The storefronts disagree: Steam lists an AMD RX 5500 XT as the minimum, while Epic lists an RX 6500 XT. Both list the NVIDIA GTX 1060. Because the official listings do not reconcile the AMD models, do not assume one silently overrides the other; check the storefront where you plan to play for its latest specification.

Release date and what the DLC includes
Pearl Abyss delayed the DLC by two weeks on September 30, 2026, setting its release for October 29, 2026. Steam and Epic also show October 29. The publisher’s regional schedule gives Europe as October 29 at 22:00 UTC, North America as October 29 at 15:00 PT / 18:00 ET, and Asia as October 30 at 07:00 KST/JST. Pearl Abyss’s announcement supersedes older October 15 dates that may still appear in search results.
The store descriptions present Charting the Unknown as a single-player expansion to the lands and seas of Pywel. Its listed additions include ship travel to islands, underwater exploration for treasure and sunken ruins, expanded facility management and housing, deeper interactions with residents, and further story threads involving Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane.
