To change the password other devices use to join your Galaxy S22 hotspot, open Settings > Connections > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering > Mobile Hotspot, edit the password in the configuration screen, and save. The phone’s labels and layout can vary by software version or carrier.
Change the Galaxy S22 hotspot password
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connections, then Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.
- Tap Mobile Hotspot.
- Open Configure or the hotspot’s network details. Do not just switch the hotspot on or off.
- Tap Password, enter the new password, and save or confirm. Samsung describes this field as the place to view and change the hotspot password; the exact controls may differ on your device. - Give the new password to anyone who should continue using the hotspot. On their devices, update the saved password and reconnect.
This changes the credential for your phone’s mobile hotspot—not your screen lock, Samsung account, or home Wi-Fi router password. Don’t assume a particular minimum length or character rule; follow any requirement shown on your S22’s password screen.

If the menu or hotspot option is missing
The path above is the common Galaxy route, but Samsung notes that settings can vary by model and software. Carrier configuration may also affect whether the feature is available. If your account or phone does not offer hotspot service, check with your carrier: tethering may require a plan that supports it, and availability or charges depend on the carrier and account. If another device cannot connect
It rejects the password
Make sure the device is using the new password, not an older saved one. Update or forget the saved hotspot network on that device, then try joining it again.

It cannot find the hotspot
Check the hotspot’s band setting. Samsung says 2.4 GHz is compatible with more devices, while 5 GHz can provide better performance. Changing the band is a separate compatibility adjustment; it does not change the password. Samsung Support: Connection options for your Galaxy phone or tablet.

Leave password protection enabled rather than making the hotspot open to nearby devices. Samsung Business Insights discusses hotspot use on the Galaxy S22 series and advises against an open hotspot. Remember that hotspot use draws on mobile data and battery; check your carrier plan if you are concerned about data limits or charges.
