Chrome has no general browser-wide time-zone switch. For everyday browsing, change your device’s time zone; for website testing, emulate a time zone in Chrome DevTools. An extension can override time-zone behavior on supported pages, but it does not change your device clock or IP-based location. Chrome’s location permission is a separate setting.
Choose the right kind of time-zone change

Change the time zone for everyday use
Change the date-and-time or time-zone setting in your operating system, or in your Chromebook’s device settings. This affects Chrome and other apps because the setting belongs to the device, not the browser. The exact controls vary by operating-system version, so use the system’s current Settings interface.
On a managed Chromebook, a school or employer may control the time zone. ChromeOS policy documentation includes SystemTimezone and SystemTimezoneAutomaticDetection; if the setting is unavailable or resets, contact the device administrator. Chromium policy reference

Emulate a time zone in Chrome DevTools
DevTools offers location presets for testing how a page responds to a different locale, location, or time zone. A preset can include a time-zone ID such as America/New_York, defined using the latest release of the Time Zone Database. This is a test override, not a change to your computer’s clock or to the network location a service may infer.
- Open Chrome DevTools and open DevTools Settings.
- Open Locations and add a location preset. Provide a name, latitude, longitude, locale, and time-zone ID as needed.
- Save the preset.
- Open the DevTools Sensors panel and choose the saved preset from Location.

Use an extension only if its page-level scope fits
The Chrome Web Store listing for Timezone Override describes global or per-site rules that emulate time-zone APIs on supported pages. The listing says the extension requires Chrome 125 or newer, and that it does not alter the device time zone, IP address, or physical location. It also notes that workers and native formatters created before the override may retain their original time zone. These are the listing’s stated limitations, not independent test results. Change or block a site’s location access
If the actual issue is a website asking for your location, manage that permission separately: in desktop Chrome, go to Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Location. There you can change the default behavior or set permission for individual sites. This controls whether a site can request location; it does not choose a time zone.

Chrome Help says that when a site is allowed to use location, Chrome can send an estimate from Google Location Services to that site. Windows or Mac may also require location access to be enabled in system preferences; follow Chrome’s system-settings prompt if shown. Work or school administrators may manage this setting.
