Police have arrested Lakshya, 20, a school friend of the teenager accused of killing his father, head constable Nitin Singh, in Chandigarh on September 25, 2026. Police allege Lakshya connected the teenager with a weapons dealer in Haridwar; that allegation and the reported arrests do not establish guilt or a court finding.
What police allege about Lakshya’s role
According to Hindustan Times, police arrested Lakshya, who is from Ramdarbar, on the night of October 1. Police said he and Armaan Singh had attended the same private school in Sector 45. The report described Lakshya’s arrest as the third in the case.

Police allege that Lakshya and Armaan travelled together to Haridwar in August, where Armaan allegedly made contact with Mohammad Shaheen, whom police described as a weapons dealer. Police say Armaan returned to Haridwar alone about ten days before the killing to buy a pistol. The report says police cited CCTV footage showing Armaan and Lakshya travelling to Haridwar.
Police also said Lakshya was arrested with a country-made pistol of a make similar to the one allegedly used by Armaan. Similarity of make does not show that the pistols were the same, and the report does not establish that Lakshya supplied the weapon used in the killing.

What is known about the killing
Nitin Singh was shot at his family’s home in Sector 22 on September 25, the report says. Police allege that Armaan argued with his father after an alarm set for 4 a.m. woke him, then shot him after he went back to sleep. Police say the weapon was later recovered from the terrace.
Police further allege that Armaan wanted money for a second-hand automobile business, resented his father’s response and sought access to family property. The report also says police allege that Armaan intended to kill his mother; she alerted neighbours after she discovered Nitin’s body and Armaan allegedly tried to attack her. These are allegations reported by the outlet, not established findings.

The account attributes the connection to the dealer, travel to Haridwar and weapon-related claims to police. CCTV is cited for the reported journey, but the report does not independently corroborate the allegations or establish what Lakshya knew or did beyond them. An arrest, judicial custody and a similar-make pistol are not proof of involvement in the killing. No conviction or court findings are reported.
