Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is scheduled to launch on October 15, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. Konami describes it as a 2D action-exploration game set in Paris in 1499, with Rose Belmont wielding the Vampire Killer. The date is still in the future as of October 13, 2026, so this is a preview of confirmed details—not a completed review or a firsthand verdict.
What is Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse?
Konami and Evil Empire are developing Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, with Motion Twin advising on the project. Konami characterizes it as a 2D action-exploration game. Its story takes place in Paris in 1499, 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse: a city under attack by monsters, with a looming castle and a successor to Trevor Belmont taking up the Vampire Killer. The official site names that protagonist Rose Belmont and describes her journey as one of growth alongside faster, more fluid gameplay.

Is there a demo?
Konami announced a playable demo and says progress can carry over to the day-one version under the same-platform and account conditions described in its announcement. Availability and the precise carry-over requirements can change or vary by platform, so consult Konami’s official information before downloading or switching systems. Do not assume demo progress will transfer between different platforms.
What does the preview tell us—and what remains unknown?
A PlayStation.Blog hands-on report dated July 17 offers a preview perspective, not a finished review. It reports that the game steers away from roguelite permadeath and procedurally generated levels. That observation is useful when setting expectations, but it is not a substitute for assessing the complete game or a guarantee about every detail of its structure.

The available material does not establish a final judgment on level quality, combat depth, difficulty balance, performance or value. Once the full game is available, a meaningful review should examine:
- Exploration and level structure: how navigation works, whether routes encourage backtracking, and how clearly the game guides or challenges players.
- Whip movement and combat: how responsive the Vampire Killer feels in fights and whether it also adds useful traversal options.
- Enemies and bosses: the variety of encounters and whether difficulty feels fair and consistent.
- Art and atmosphere: how the game presents 1499 Paris, and whether visual effects keep hazards and enemies readable.
Until those elements can be judged in the released game, calling it “bloody good” as a verdict would go beyond the evidence. The confirmed premise is promising for fans of 2D action and exploration, but the hands-on report alone cannot establish whether the finished experience delivers.
