Yes—your PC can run a PlayStation game locally if that specific game has a PC release and your hardware meets its requirements. If it does not have a PC version, you may still be able to play through PS Remote Play from a PS4 or PS5, or stream supported games through the PlayStation Plus PC app. Those options use a console or streaming service; they do not run the game on your PC hardware.
First, choose what “run on PC” means
There are three distinct ways to play PlayStation games using a PC. Their requirements are not interchangeable: a lightweight streaming client does not need the hardware required to render a game locally.

| Route | Where the game runs | What to check | Key limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Native PC release | On the PC itself | The exact game’s Windows and hardware requirements | A PS4 or PS5 copy does not itself provide a PC edition or PC license. |
| PS Remote Play | On a connected PS4 or PS5; the PC receives video and sends controls over the network | Supported PC and console, account, controller, USB connection and network | It is a remote session, not local PC execution. |
| PlayStation Plus PC app | Streamed through the PC app | App requirements, eligible account and subscription, controller, broadband and catalog availability | Only supported games can be streamed, subject to service availability. |
PlayStation describes its PC releases and PC peripherals on its PlayStation gaming on PC page. Sony’s separate support pages explain Remote Play on PC and Mac and PlayStation Plus on PC.

- Confirm the exact game and edition. Find out whether it has an official PC release. A console purchase alone does not establish a PC version or license.
- Open that game’s current PC requirements. Record its operating system, processor, memory, graphics card, storage, and any listed feature requirements or performance targets. Start with the game’s official PC listing or PlayStation’s PC gaming support page.
- Check your computer’s specifications. In Windows, use Settings or System Information to identify your processor, installed RAM, Windows edition and graphics hardware. Compare each item with the game’s listed minimum; check any recommended specification or preset as well.
- Read the performance target alongside the hardware. Some listings tie a specification to a resolution, frame rate or graphics preset. Treat that as a target stated for that configuration, not as a benchmark for a different PC.
- Choose another route if there is no PC edition. Use Remote Play if you have a supported PS4 or PS5, or check whether the title is available for streaming in the PlayStation Plus PC catalog in your region.
Minimum requirements are an entry threshold, not a guarantee that a particular computer will deliver a particular frame rate or settings experience. To make a more specific estimate, you need the exact game and the PC’s processor and graphics card, as well as its memory and storage.

Why requirements differ from one PlayStation PC release to another
Each native PC release has its own workload and requirements. PlayStation’s support page gives examples that illustrate why a single “PlayStation games PC requirement” would be misleading:
| Game and listed requirement example | What the listing says |
|---|---|
| Days Gone minimum | Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD FX-6300 processor, 8 GB RAM, and GTX 780- or Radeon R9 290-class graphics. |
| God of War Ragnarök minimum configuration | 1080p, 30 fps average target; GTX 1060 or RX 5500 XT graphics; Intel i5-4670K or Ryzen 3 1200 processor; 8 GB RAM; and 190 GB SSD storage. |
| Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered very-low preset | 720p, 30 fps average target, 16 GB RAM, and GTX 1650 4 GB or RX 5500 XT 4 GB graphics. |
These are examples from PlayStation’s PC gaming support page, not universal recommendations or independent benchmark results. Check the current listing for the exact game you want; requirements and stated targets can differ by release and preset.

If you want to play through PS Remote Play
Remote Play lets you control a PS5 or PS4 from a compatible computer over a network. The console runs the game, so your PC’s graphics card does not need to meet the native PC game’s requirements. The PC app and connection still have their own requirements.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWindows requirements and equipment
Sony’s Windows instructions list Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11, a 7th-generation Intel Core processor or later, 2 GB RAM, at least 100 MB storage, a display resolution of 1024 × 768 or higher, a sound card and a USB port. Setup also calls for a PS5, a PlayStation account, a DualSense wireless controller and a USB cable. The detailed figures here come from Sony’s Remote Play Windows requirements page; do not assume other platforms have identical requirements.

Network expectations
Sony lists 5 Mbps upload and download as the baseline and recommends at least 15 Mbps in each direction for best performance. A faster connection does not guarantee a particular latency or picture quality: the remote session depends on the network between the PC and console. A wired connection may be useful when troubleshooting, but it does not by itself guarantee a given result.

The PlayStation Plus PC app is another option when a title does not have a PC edition. Its PC requirements describe the streaming client, not the hardware needed to render each game locally.

Quick Recap
Common compatibility mistakes
- Assuming every PlayStation game has a PC version: Check the exact game’s official PC listing first.
- Comparing streaming requirements with native game requirements: Remote Play and PlayStation Plus describe ways to receive a stream, not the PC hardware needed to render a native release.
- Treating minimum specifications as a personal performance promise: Use the stated target and preset, but do not infer a frame rate for your own PC without matching the game and hardware.
- Assuming a controller fixes compatibility: PlayStation says input options vary by title. A DualSense is useful for controller play and is named in Sony’s Remote Play setup, but it does not make a game compatible with a PC.
