Usually, no. Metal utensils can scratch, nick, or scuff nonstick bakeware, so silicone, nylon, or wood is the better choice for lifting and serving food. Check the care instructions for your exact pan: guidance varies by product, and Nordic Ware makes a specific exception for its Brilliant line.
Why metal utensils are usually discouraged
A metal spatula, knife, or fork can mark a nonstick coating. Manufacturers commonly advise using softer utensils to reduce the risk of coating damage. That guidance is product-specific: different makers and product lines do not all give the same rule.

For routine use, choose a silicone spatula or a nylon turner. Wood is another commonly recommended option; Calphalon also lists plastic. Use a tool that suits the job, and avoid sharp metal tools on coated surfaces.

The temperature figures are limits for the named products, not a universal rating for nonstick bakeware. Follow the limit and cleaning instructions supplied for your own pan.

What to do if food sticks
Use parchment paper as a liner when the recipe and pan allow it. USA Pan says parchment can help prevent sticking and make cleanup easier; it does not make metal utensils safe for a pan whose instructions prohibit them. See the USA Pan Half Sheet Pan product details for its care information.
What if the coating is scratched?
Do not assume that every scratch makes every pan unsafe, or that all visible damage is harmless. The cited guidance does not establish one safety rule for every coating or product. Nordic Ware’s assurance about marks applies specifically to its Brilliant pans; other manufacturers may give different directions. If the coating is visibly damaged, consult the maker’s instructions for that exact model.
