Neither note explains a non-OSC option or gives a complete setup guide.
What the current release notes describe
Climbey’s October 2, 2026 update says: “Add support for Eye-Openness via OSC.” SteamVR’s beta 2.18.2 release note, dated October 1, 2026, says: “Expose eye openness information when streaming from Steam Frame, via OSC.” It specifies SteamOS 0.4.3 or higher for that exposure.

Together, these notes identify an OSC-based route associated with Steam Frame streaming. They do not establish that every headset supports it, nor do they specify which settings or configuration steps a player must use.

Confirm that your setup matches the SteamVR note: streaming from Steam Frame with SteamOS 0.4.3 or higher.

Use the OSC route described by the updates. The notes do not state whether you must opt into a SteamVR beta channel, enable a setting, configure OSC manually, or change a Climbey menu option, so they are not enough to provide a reliable step-by-step configuration.

Is a non-OSC alternative coming?
SteamVR says eye openness will also be available through the OpenVR SDK “in an upcoming release,” but the announcement gives no date. That is a planned future route, not evidence that an OpenVR SDK option is available now. The cited updates do not describe any currently usable way to access Climbey’s eye-openness support without OSC.
How the earlier Climbey note differs
Climbey’s December 24, 2025 announcement described initial eye-tracking support for hardware providing SteamVR Link OSC-powered eye-tracking passthrough. It also said multiplayer support at that time worked only when Climbey was streamed via Steam Link. That is historical context; it should not be treated as a full setup description or as the stated requirements for the October 2026 eye-openness update.
