Stir a caramel ready-to-drink protein shake into iced coffee, or use it as the liquid in a smoothie. Premier Protein publishes recipes for both. Hot coffee is less certain: instructions for mixing protein powder into hot coffee do not establish how every bottled shake will handle heat, so check the directions for your specific product.
How to use a caramel protein drink in iced coffee
For a simple iced coffee, chill brewed coffee, fill a glass with ice, add the caramel shake, and stir. Premier Protein’s Iced Caramel Coffee recipe uses this approach; its instruction is to fill the rest of the glass with caramel shake and stir until mixed.

Make it foamy
For a latte-style drink, shake the protein drink separately before pouring it over iced coffee. Premier Protein’s Caramel Latte recipe uses that method. The brand’s iced caramel coffee recipe lists 58 calories per recipe serving; its page says nutrition values are estimates and may vary.
How to use it in a smoothie
A caramel shake can replace some or all of the liquid in a smoothie. Blend it with fruit and other ingredients until smooth, then adjust the ice to get the thickness you want.

Apple and banana
Premier Protein’s Caramel Apple Smoothie combines one cup of caramel shake with one peeled and cored green apple, one frozen banana, cinnamon, and half to one cup of ice. Blend until smooth; use less ice for a thinner drink or more for a thicker one.
Pear, spinach, and oats
A second Premier Protein recipe pairs caramel shake with pear, spinach, Greek yogurt, oats, spices, and ice. This gives you a less apple-focused option, with yogurt and oats adding more body. See the brand’s recipe collection for its current recipe details.

What about hot coffee?
Do not assume a ready-to-drink caramel shake can be heated or poured into hot coffee without changing texture. KOS’s guidance is for protein powder: mix the powder first with a little room-temperature liquid, then stir it into hot coffee. That is not a universal method for bottled shakes. Food Network Kitchen also publishes a hot-coffee protein shake recipe using powder, which likewise does not establish how ready-to-drink products behave when heated.

Check the label on your drink
Nutrition and ingredients vary by product. Premier Protein’s cited 11.5 fl oz caramel shake label lists 30 g protein, 160 calories, and 1 g total sugar per serving, and identifies milk and soy. Those figures apply to that shake, not every caramel protein drink or the finished coffee and smoothie recipes.
