No. Sony says the DualSense wireless controller is not compatible with the PS4 console. For playing directly on a PS4, use a DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller. Remote Play is a separate setup: a DualSense may work with a supported device running the Remote Play app, but that does not make it compatible with the PS4 itself.
Why a DualSense will not work directly with a PS4

Use a DUALSHOCK 4 for direct PS4 play
Sony’s controller support instructions describe pairing a DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller with a PS4. Connect the controller to the console with a USB cable, then press the PS button. Once it has enough charge, disconnect the cable to use it wirelessly.

- Turn on the PS4.
- Connect the DUALSHOCK 4 to the PS4 with a USB cable.
- Press the PS button on the controller.
- After it has enough charge, unplug the cable to play wirelessly.
If you need a controller for direct play, a DUALSHOCK 4 is the documented choice for PS4. Check that any replacement you buy is the correct model and is in suitable condition.

How Remote Play changes the setup
Remote Play streams a PS4 game to another supported device, such as a PC, Mac, or mobile device. In that arrangement, the controller connects to the device running the app—not directly to the PS4. Should you try an adapter or workaround?
Sony’s cited compatibility information does not verify an adapter, converter, or firmware change that enables direct DualSense use on PS4. It therefore does not establish whether a particular third-party workaround will function, or what its features or reliability might be. If you need dependable direct console control, use the DUALSHOCK 4 pairing method Sony documents.

If Remote Play does not connect
Remote Play connection problems are separate from direct controller compatibility. Sony’s Remote Play connection troubleshooting guide covers connection issues. Check that your device and app are supported and follow Sony’s troubleshooting steps; a successful Remote Play setup does not pair the DualSense directly to the PS4.
