Not without important limitations. Nintendo says its Japanese-Language System (Japan Only) is designed for use in Japan and advises against using it overseas. The hardware may power on abroad with a suitable plug adapter, but the system is Japanese-only, links only to Japan-region Nintendo Accounts and accesses only the Japan eShop. Nintendo also excludes overseas faults and damage from warranty and repair service.
The newly announced Choose-Your-Game Bundle is scheduled to launch in Japan on November 12, 2026. Its game code is digital, and the bundle is for the Japan-only system—not a way around its language, account, storefront or support restrictions.

Which Japan-only bundle is this?
Nintendo announced the Japanese-Language System (Japan Only) Choose-Your-Game Bundle on October 6, 2026. Its scheduled Japanese release date is November 12, 2026, so it has not yet launched as of October 7, 2026. Nintendo lists a suggested retail price of ¥63,980, including tax.

The bundle includes the Japan-only console and a download code for one of three games:
#1 Best Overall
- The next evolution of Nintendo Switch
- One system, three play modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld
- Larger, vivid, 7.9” LCD touch screen with support for HDR and up to 120 fps
- Dock that supports 4K when connected to a compatible TV*
- GameChat** lets you voice chat, share your game screen, and connect via video chat as you play
- Mario Kart World for Nintendo Switch 2
- Nintendo Switch Sports Resort for Nintendo Switch 2
- Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream for Nintendo Switch
The code is valid through March 31, 2027. Downloading the selected game requires a Nintendo Account and internet access. Because the console links only to Japan-region Nintendo Accounts and uses only the Japan-region eShop, do not assume the code can be redeemed through another region’s store; follow the bundle’s redemption instructions and Japan-account requirement. Nintendo’s October 6, 2026 announcement lists the bundle contents and terms.
This is not the earlier Mario Kart World Set. Nintendo’s April 2025 announcement described that different launch bundle as a Japan-only system with a digital copy of Mario Kart World and a ¥53,980 launch suggested retail price. The 2025 announcement concerns that older product and price.
What works—and what does not—outside Japan?
Power: voltage is supported, but the plug is not universal
Nintendo specifies an AC adapter input range of 100–240 V, but the included adapter has a Japanese Type A plug. You will need an outlet adapter appropriate for your destination. Nintendo says it has not tested overseas plug adapters and does not guarantee their safety or stable operation, so it does not endorse a particular adapter. Check the destination’s electrical requirements rather than treating the voltage range as proof that the plug will fit or that any adapter is suitable. Nintendo’s overseas-use support page gives the power and adapter caveats.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWireless features: local radio rules still apply
Wireless LAN, Bluetooth and NFC use must comply with the destination’s radio requirements, which may include certification or conformity declarations. Nintendo warns that use where requirements are unmet can be punishable under local law. Its support page lists eligible regions, including Japan, the United States and named European countries; check that current list and the rules where you will use the console rather than assuming wireless use is permitted worldwide.

Warranty and repairs: overseas support is excluded
Nintendo says faults, malfunctions, damage and other losses arising overseas are outside its warranty and repair services for Japan-market Switch 2 systems. If local manufacturer support matters to you, this is a major ownership risk: a lower Japan price does not come with local Nintendo warranty coverage abroad.
Language, Nintendo Accounts and eShop access
The console interface is Japanese-only
The Japan-only configuration supports Japanese as its system language. Software language generally follows the system language, although some games provide their own language setting. A game being sold abroad does not establish that it will display English on this console; check the language support for each specific title. Nintendo’s Switch 2 model comparison distinguishes the Japan-only and multi-language configurations.
Only Japan-region Nintendo Accounts can link
Nintendo says only Nintendo Accounts with Japan set as their country/region can link to the Japan-only system. Without a Japan-region account, Nintendo lists GameChat, Virtual Game Cards, paid Nintendo Switch Online, the Nintendo Switch app, eShop, game news and friends features as unavailable. The system can access only the Japan-region eShop, so you cannot use it to buy and download games from an overseas eShop.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →What this means for the bundle’s download code
The included game is a download, not a physical cartridge, and Nintendo requires an account and internet access to download it. The Japan-only account and storefront limits therefore matter at redemption as well as for later purchases. If you do not have a Japan-region Nintendo Account, the bundle’s digital-game benefit may not be usable as expected.

Will foreign physical game cards work?
Nintendo says foreign-market packaged games are not guaranteed to operate on either Japan-market Switch 2 model. That is a lack of guarantee—not evidence that every foreign cartridge is categorically blocked, and not a promise that it will work. Nintendo separately says Switch 2 plays compatible physical and digital Switch games, while some titles may be unsupported or not fully compatible. Check the specific game’s compatibility and language rather than inferring either from the console’s country of sale. Nintendo’s Switch 2 launch announcement describes the general compatible-game caveat.
Japan-only or multi-language: which fits an overseas buyer?
| Decision | Japan-only system | Multi-language system |
|---|---|---|
| System language | Japanese only; an individual game may offer its own language setting. | Selectable from 16 supported languages. |
| Nintendo Account | Only Japan-region accounts can link. | Accounts from all country/region settings can link. |
| eShop | Japan-region storefront only. | Compatible with international account settings; check the account/store region for particular purchases. |
| Foreign-market physical games | Nintendo does not guarantee operation. | Nintendo gives the same caveat for Japan-market units. |
| Use and warranty overseas | Designed for Japan; Nintendo advises against overseas use and excludes overseas warranty and repair service. | Nintendo gives the same overseas warranty and repair exclusion for Japan-market units. |
| Price listed by Nintendo | ¥59,980 on the product comparison page. | ¥69,980 on the product comparison page. |
| Choose-Your-Game Bundle | Scheduled for November 12, 2026 at ¥63,980, with one digital game choice. | No equivalent multi-language bundle is identified in the cited Nintendo sources. |
The ¥59,980 and ¥69,980 figures are the suggested prices listed on Nintendo’s product comparison page; the separate ¥63,980 figure is the announced price for the Japan-only bundle. Prices and availability may change, so verify them with Nintendo near purchase.
If you need a non-Japan account or a non-Japanese interface, the multi-language system is the better fit on those specific points. It does not remove Nintendo’s stated overseas warranty exclusion for Japan-market units, and the listed model prices alone do not establish what a local retailer will charge or what support it will provide.
