That upgrade does not apply to RAM. In the Ryzen 5 7430U configuration, the 16GB memory is onboard and cannot be replaced or expanded, so check the exact processor and specifications before buying.
Which ACEMAGIC K1 does this review cover?
“K1” refers to more than one hardware configuration. PCWorld’s September 14, 2026 review examined a Ryzen 5 model with six CPU cores, 16GB RAM, a 512GB SSD, and Windows 11 Pro. ACEMAGIC’s specification page for the Ryzen 5 7430U variant lists six cores and 12 threads, 16GB of onboard LPDDR4X memory, and a 512GB M.2 2280 SATA SSD. These details describe the cited Ryzen configurations, not every K1 listing. PCWorld’s review and ACEMAGIC’s product specifications should be checked alongside the exact listing; the links are general pages, so confirm the variant shown there.

The distinction matters because an Intel K1 is configured differently. TechRadar’s review of the Intel Core i5-12600H model reports two DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM slots, memory expandable to 64GB, and two M.2 2280 slots. Those are not specifications for the Ryzen version. TechRadar’s Intel K1 review documents that separate configuration.

Storage is the upgrade path highlighted in PCWorld’s review. The reviewed K1’s SATA SSD is significantly slower than NVMe storage, and the publication says fitting an NVMe SSD can help the system make better use of its capabilities. ACEMAGIC lists one M.2 slot supporting SATA/PCIe and another SATA M.2 slot for its Ryzen 5 7430U configuration, with up to 4TB total storage across two bays.

Before buying a drive, verify the exact K1 processor variant, slot type, drive dimensions, and capacity support. The cited specifications do not establish compatibility for every K1 revision or every SSD model, so do not assume that any M.2 drive will fit or work in either slot.
What the upgrade changes
- An NVMe drive in the PCIe-capable slot can address the storage-speed limitation noted in the review.
- Adding storage does not make the onboard RAM replaceable or expandable.
- Internal access may take patience: PCWorld describes opening the reviewed unit as awkward.
Is the Ryzen K1’s RAM upgradeable?
Not on the Ryzen 5 7430U configuration specified by ACEMAGIC. Its 16GB LPDDR4X memory is onboard and cannot be upgraded or replaced. Treat 16GB as a fixed purchase decision for that version; the SSD upgrade does not change it.

Do not infer upgradeability from another K1 listing. The Intel Core i5-12600H model reviewed by TechRadar uses two SO-DIMM slots and supports up to 64GB, a materially different design from the cited Ryzen configuration. Check the processor model and memory type in the listing rather than relying on the K1 name alone.

- Increases available memory capacity to enhance system responsiveness, application performance, and multitasking capabilities.
PCWorld also reported around 5 watts of idle power for its review sample. This is an approximate observation from that test, not a guaranteed figure for every K1 or a controlled comparison with other mini PCs. The publication notes that the fan becomes audible under load, so the low idle-power observation should not be mistaken for silent operation in demanding tasks.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who should consider the Ryzen K1?
- Good fit: routine office tasks, web-based work, video calls, and streaming in a compact desktop.
- Consider carefully: buyers who expect to expand memory later; the 7430U configuration’s 16GB is fixed.
- Plan for storage: users who want faster internal storage should confirm the PCIe-capable M.2 slot and compatibility for their exact unit.
- Look elsewhere or verify performance first: gaming and graphics-heavy workstation use are not established strengths in the cited review evidence.
Because the Ryzen K1’s memory cannot be expanded, choose it only if the fixed 16GB configuration suits your likely workload. For ordinary desktop duties, the SATA SSD is the more actionable weakness; an NVMe retrofit may help, but it involves opening a unit that the review describes as awkward to access.
