Pokémon from Ruby or Sapphire can reach Pokémon HOME only through a chain of older games and services: Pal Park, a Generation V game, Pokémon Bank and Pokémon HOME. The Bank-to-HOME step requires a HOME Premium Plan, cannot be reversed, and must be completed before Bank service ends on February 25, 2027, at 7:00 p.m. PST (February 26 at 03:00 UTC), according to Nintendo.
How to move Pokémon from Ruby or Sapphire to HOME
This is a series of migrations, not a direct connection between a Game Boy Advance cartridge and HOME. Each stage requires compatible games and working hardware or software.

- Move the Pokémon into a Generation IV game with Pal Park. Insert the Ruby or Sapphire cartridge into the GBA slot of a Nintendo DS or DS Lite, then use Pal Park in Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold or SoulSilver. Pokémon’s support instructions describe this migration, and Nintendo’s Pokémon Platinum manual specifically lists Ruby and Sapphire.
- Move it to a Generation V game with Poké Transfer. Use two compatible DS-family systems and Poké Transfer to move Pokémon from Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold or SoulSilver into Black, White, Black 2 or White 2.
- Send it from Generation V to Pokémon Bank. Poké Transporter supports Black, White, Black 2 and White 2 as source games. It transfers the Pokémon into Bank.
- Move it from Bank to HOME. Use Pokémon HOME’s Bank transfer feature. A HOME Premium Plan is required for this transfer.
What you need—and what may prevent the transfer
- A working Ruby or Sapphire cartridge, plus a Nintendo DS or DS Lite with a functioning GBA slot for the Pal Park step.
- A compatible Generation IV game and the Generation V game that will receive the Pokémon, along with compatible systems for the Poké Transfer step.
- Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter already installed and functional. Nintendo says Bank is no longer available to download. Its support guidance says Bank is free to use for people who downloaded it before March 27, 2023; that does not make the app newly obtainable.
- A Pokémon HOME Premium Plan for the Bank-to-HOME move.
Owning a DS Lite alone is not enough: you also need the compatible games and later-generation transfer software. Buying hardware now does not guarantee that you can download Bank or Poké Transporter.
Why the Bank deadline matters
Nintendo has announced that Pokémon Bank service will end on February 25, 2027, at 7:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (February 26 at 03:00 UTC). Nintendo says Bank-to-HOME transfers will no longer be possible after service ends. If Bank or Poké Transporter is missing, or any part of the game-and-hardware chain is unavailable, the full route may not be feasible before that deadline.

Know what happens when Pokémon reaches HOME
A Pokémon moved from Bank into HOME cannot be returned to Bank. Before confirming the transfer, check HOME’s per-Pokémon game compatibility information to see which destination games can accept it. Compatibility is specific to the Pokémon and the receiving game; getting it into HOME does not mean every game can use it.
