Samsung blocking is documented as a filter for incoming calls and texts, not as a rule that prevents you from composing an outgoing text. But Samsung’s support information does not guarantee that a message you send to a blocked number will be delivered. If you need to resume contact, unblock the number first, then send a new message.
What blocking does on a Samsung phone
Samsung describes number blocking as a way to stop unwanted calls and messages from reaching your Galaxy device. That is an incoming filter: the support guidance does not say that blocking someone prevents you from starting or sending an outgoing message to them. It also does not establish a universal delivery result across Galaxy models, messaging apps, and wireless providers, so do not assume a text will arrive just because it appears to send.

First identify which messaging app you actually use; the Samsung Messages menus do not apply to Google Messages. On Galaxy devices, the default app and available features can vary. Samsung says Samsung Messages is available on Galaxy phones and tablets running One UI 6.0 and lower, and identifies Google Messages as the default messaging app for RCS support on and between carriers. Samsung Messages
- Open Messages.
- Open the app’s settings.
- Tap Block numbers and spam to review blocked numbers and messages.
- If you want messages from the person again, remove their number from the blocked list if that option is available in your version of the app.

Google Messages
- Open Google Messages.
- Tap your profile or the options menu, then choose Spam & blocked.
- Find and open the conversation.
- Tap Unblock.

If you cannot receive their calls or texts
If messages from someone are missing, check whether their number is blocked in the messaging app, the Phone app, or Contacts. Samsung recommends checking those lists when troubleshooting missed calls and texts.
