How to add your membership link to a live stream description

Copy your channel URL and add
/jointo the end. YouTube says this links directly to your membership window. -
In the live stream’s video description, add the link with a clear prompt, such as “Join this channel for member perks: [your /join link].” Replace the example with your actual URL.

Briefly describe what membership is and what members receive. Make sure the benefits you advertise match the perks you actually offer and comply with YouTube’s membership policies and terms.

YouTube also recommends adding the membership link to default video descriptions, so it can be included in future uploads.
Will viewers be able to click it?
Do not assume that links behave identically in every part of a live stream. YouTube documents clickable links in chat and channel descriptions for horizontal live streams, but says links in those locations are not clickable in vertical live feeds. That guidance concerns chat and channel descriptions; it should not be treated as a guarantee about every viewer’s experience with a video-description link.

Membership support in both formats does not mean every link is clickable in both. If viewers cannot use a link in a particular live-feed location, the /join URL in the video description remains a distinct placement to try.
Why a viewer may not see a Join button
A missing Join button does not necessarily mean your description link is invalid. YouTube lists several possible reasons memberships or the button may not be available to a viewer:

YouTube suggests directing viewers to the Join button on your channel homepage or using the channel’s /join URL as an alternative route to the membership window. Neither route overrides regional or other eligibility limits.
Keep the promotion and destination within YouTube’s rules
YouTube’s external-links policy applies to live streams. It covers clickable URLs, URL text displayed to viewers, and spoken directions to off-platform destinations. Use a link that complies with that policy. Affiliate content is not, by itself, a Terms of Use violation, but excessive affiliate posting can violate spam rules.
