Yes. You can stream supported Xbox Cloud Gaming titles to select Meta Quest headsets without owning an Xbox console. Most Game Pass cloud games require an eligible active plan, but selected free-to-play titles can be played with a free Microsoft account in supported regions. You’ll also need a compatible controller and a suitable internet connection.
How Xbox Cloud Gaming works on Quest
Xbox Cloud Gaming streams games from Microsoft’s servers to a supported headset; it does not install or run a local Xbox game on the Quest. Xbox lists Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3 and Quest 3S as supported VR headsets. Check Xbox Cloud Gaming and Xbox’s VR headset page for current device, game and regional availability.

Cloud access is distinct from Xbox Remote Play. Remote Play streams from an Xbox console you own, while Cloud Gaming is the route to use if you do not have a console.

What you need
- A supported Quest: Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3 or Quest 3S, according to Xbox’s current VR headset listing.
- A Microsoft account: Sign in to access the service and the games available to you.
- A plan or eligible free game: Most Game Pass cloud titles require an eligible active plan. Selected free-to-play games are available with a free Microsoft account in supported regions. Not every Game Pass title is necessarily playable in the cloud.
- A compatible controller: Xbox specifies a controller connected by Bluetooth or USB. Check whether a controller you already own is compatible before buying another.
- A reliable internet connection: Xbox’s live FAQ lists 10 Mbps as a minimum, says some devices may need 20 Mbps for best quality, and recommends 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Xbox Wire recommended at least 20 Mbps for a stable cloud gaming connection in its December 19, 2025 guide. These are service guidance figures, not a guarantee of performance on every Quest; results vary with network conditions and location. How to get started
- Confirm your Quest model is on Xbox’s supported list and that Xbox Cloud Gaming is available in your region.
- Check that the game you want is currently cloud playable in your region and plan. Game, feature and platform availability can change.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account associated with your eligible plan, or choose a supported free-to-play cloud game if you do not have a plan.
- Connect a compatible controller over Bluetooth or USB and use a reliable Wi-Fi connection.
- Open Xbox’s current Quest app or access instructions and follow the prompts shown for your device. Exact Quest-specific app steps can change, so use Xbox’s live instructions rather than relying on a fixed menu path.

What to check if a game will not launch
- Verify that your Quest model, region and selected title are supported by Xbox Cloud Gaming.
- Confirm that your plan is eligible for cloud play, or that the game is one of the selected free-to-play titles offered without a paid plan.
- Check that the controller is connected and that your Wi-Fi meets Xbox’s guidance; a 5 GHz connection may help where available.
- Remember that a Game Pass subscription does not mean every game in the broader catalog is cloud playable. Availability can change by title, plan, region and platform.
