Four free PlayStation games that don’t require PS Plus

Apex Legends: squad tactics and hero abilities
Choose Apex Legends if you want a team-focused first-person shooter. PlayStation describes it as a hero shooter built around team play and strategy. Electronic Arts says it is free on PS4 and PS5 and explicitly states that PS Plus is not needed for online play on either console.

Warframe is the pick for players looking for a more expansive action game rather than short sports matches. PlayStation describes its mix of shooter, stealth, and RPG elements. Its PS4 and PS5 listing says online play is required and marks in-game purchases as optional.

What “free” means—and what to check
Free-to-play means you can access the base game without buying it; it does not mean there are no online, account, or optional-purchase conditions. Apex Legends requires a persistent internet connection and an EA account, and EA discloses in-game purchases. Warframe requires online play and lists purchases as optional. Fortnite’s PlayStation listing includes paid V-Bucks and packs.
Subscription wording and game availability can change, and Store terms may vary by country or console. Before downloading, open the current PlayStation Store listing for your region and check its platform, online-play, and purchase details.
