Can You Disable or Customize Multi-Finger Gestures on the Galaxy Z Fold 7?

Galaxy Z Fold 7 gestures have separate controls: navigation buttons replace system swipes, while Home Up shortcuts may be set to None if the feature is available.

Yes, depending on which gestures you mean. For standard system navigation, go to Settings > Display > Navigation bar and choose Buttons to replace swipe navigation. For custom multi-finger shortcuts, Samsung Members community guidance says to open Good Lock > Home Up > Gesture settings > Multi finger gesture and set an unwanted action to None—if that option is available in your installed software. These are separate controls, and Samsung does not document a universal switch that turns off every kind of multi-finger gesture.

First identify which gesture system you want to change

“Multi-finger gestures” can refer to different features on a Galaxy Z Fold 7. The setting you need depends on whether you mean Android navigation, custom Home Up shortcuts, accessibility gestures, or the panel shown when the phone is partly folded.

Gesture type What it controls Where to look
System navigation Back, Home, and Recents Settings > Display > Navigation bar
Home Up shortcuts Custom actions assigned to multi-finger taps or movements Good Lock > Home Up > Gesture settings, if available
Accessibility and TalkBack Interaction adjustments or screen-reader controls Settings > Accessibility; TalkBack has its own gesture settings
Flex mode panel An app panel for use while the Fold is partly folded Settings > Advanced features > Flex mode panel

Replace navigation swipes with buttons

If you want to stop using the usual swipe controls for Back, Home, and Recents, Samsung’s documented option is to switch the navigation bar to buttons.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Display > Navigation bar.
  3. Select Buttons. The three-button bar replaces swipe navigation.

To keep swipes, select Swipe gestures. Samsung says that on One UI 6.1 or later, the documented actions are swiping inward from either side for Back, swiping up from the bottom for Home, and swiping up and holding for Recents. On those versions, Samsung says, “You cannot change the swipe direction on devices with One UI 6.1 or later.” Gesture options may vary by software version and model; use More options to check for sensitivity controls on your device. See Samsung’s Navigation bar guidance.

Set an unwanted Home Up shortcut to None

Home Up is a separate Good Lock customization, not the standard navigation bar. A Samsung Members community contributor describes multi-finger assignments for two, three, four, and five fingers, including swipes, pinches, taps, double-taps, and long-taps. In that setup, the way to stop an assigned shortcut is to set that gesture’s action to None.

  1. Open Good Lock and select Home Up.
  2. Open Gesture settings > Multi finger gesture, if those options appear.
  3. Select the finger-count and gesture you want to change, then choose None for its action.

The detailed instructions come from a community post, not Samsung’s general support documentation. Samsung does not confirm that the feature or these exact menus are present on every Fold 7 build or region, and the guidance does not establish a single master switch for all custom assignments. Check the installed Good Lock and Home Up menus before relying on these steps. The community post is dated 2026-10-02: Samsung Members: Home Up gesture instructions.

Check the separate Fold touch and accessibility controls

If gestures misfire near the bottom of the screen

Samsung’s Fold touch troubleshooting guidance points to Good Lock > Home Up > Gesture settings and recommends turning off Bottom gestures sensitivity setting for certain swipe-related touch problems. This setting addresses bottom-edge sensitivity; it does not clear Home Up multi-finger shortcut assignments. Samsung also recommends checking for software and Galaxy Store app updates. See Samsung’s Fold swipe-gesture troubleshooting steps.

If you need to reduce unintended taps

Open Settings > Accessibility > Interaction and dexterity to review options such as Assistant menu, touch-and-hold delay, tap duration, and Ignore repeated touches. These adjust aspects of interaction, but Samsung does not describe them as a global switch for multi-finger gestures. Details are in Samsung’s Interaction and Dexterity guide.

If TalkBack is active

TalkBack uses a distinct gesture system. Google says most TalkBack gestures can be reassigned, but two-finger swipe gestures cannot. Those screen-reader controls are separate from Home Up shortcuts; see Google’s TalkBack gesture guide.

Keep Flex mode controls separate

The Flex mode panel is associated with using the Fold while it is partly folded; Samsung describes its touchpad as letting you select items or icons “as if you were using a PC.” Its panel can be enabled or disabled for individual apps under Settings > Advanced features > Flex mode panel. That changes when the panel appears, not system navigation or Home Up assignments. See Samsung’s Fold7 cover-screen and main-screen tips and Samsung’s Flex mode guide.

If the Home Up gestures do not respond

A secondary report published on 2026-10-03 attributes to a Samsung Community moderator the suggestion that Home Up multi-finger gestures require the navigation bar to use Swipe gestures (multiple directions). Treat this as a troubleshooting clue, not a verified requirement for every Fold 7 software build. The same report mentions checking whether volume-control routines interfere. See Sammy Fans’ report.
