Yes. When you set a wallpaper on a Google Pixel, choose Lock screen as the destination. That changes the lock-screen wallpaper without replacing the Home screen wallpaper. You can also adjust lock-screen features such as shortcuts and notifications separately.
Change only the Pixel lock-screen wallpaper
- On the Home screen, touch and hold an empty area.
- Tap Wallpapers & style, then Change wallpaper.
- Choose a photo or built-in wallpaper.
- When asked where to apply it, select Lock screen, not Home screen.
- Preview the result and apply it.
Google’s Pixel wallpaper instructions provide separate destinations, so you can set the two screens independently. The same destination choice is available for wallpapers made with supported creation tools.

Change other lock-screen settings separately
Open Wallpaper & style, swipe to Lock screen, and open its settings. These controls affect the lock screen rather than the Home screen’s wallpaper:

- Shortcuts: Set the left and right shortcuts. Documented options include Do Not Disturb, Home, QR code scanner, Wallet, Camera, Flashlight, Mute, and video camera.
- Notifications: Show or hide lock-screen notifications, choose Compact View or Full list, and control viewed, silent, and sensitive content. To keep private details off the lock screen, turn off the setting for showing sensitive content. Google also documents notification privacy controls under Settings > Notifications.
- Other details: Add text, allow device controls while locked, enable Dynamic clock, or show Now Playing information.
Google’s lock-screen customization guide documents these settings. Home screen styling—such as color palettes, grid size, and icon appearance—is separate. Avoid changing those controls if you want that appearance to stay as it is.

Feature availability depends on the Pixel model
Basic selection of a separate lock-screen wallpaper is distinct from optional wallpaper effects, which have model requirements. Google’s wallpaper creation guide specifies AI wallpapers for Pixel 8 and later, emoji wallpapers for Pixel 4a and later, cinematic photo effects for Pixel 6 and later, and shape and weather effects for Pixel 9a and later. These limits apply to the named effects, not to choosing a different lock-screen wallpaper.
Showing the lock-screen wallpaper on the Always-on display is documented only for Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL. Do not expect that option on every Pixel.
