No—not through a built-in iPhone setting documented by Apple. iPhone settings let you change keyboard layouts and typing behavior, but they do not provide a control for changing the standard onscreen keyboard’s background. Changing your wallpaper is not a documented way to change it either.
What you can change without installing an app
Apple’s keyboard settings cover several useful adjustments, but none changes the keyboard background. You can manage keyboards and layouts under Settings > General > Keyboard, including adding, removing, reordering, or switching between available keyboards.

- Typing behavior: Adjust features such as autocorrection and predictive text in keyboard settings.
- Keyboard placement: Choose the left-handed, default, or right-handed one-handed layout from the keyboard interface.
- Sound and vibration: Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Keyboard Feedback to turn keyboard sound or haptics on or off. Apple notes that haptics may affect battery life.
- Accessibility: Accessibility settings include options such as whether lowercase letters appear. External-keyboard accessibility controls apply to physical keyboards, not the onscreen keyboard’s background.
These controls can make typing more comfortable, but they do not offer a background-color or keyboard-image setting. See Apple’s guide to adding or changing keyboards and its onscreen keyboard guide for the documented options.

If you are willing to install an app, a third-party keyboard extension may offer appearance choices. It is an app-based replacement, not a way to modify Apple’s built-in keyboard while keeping the no-app requirement. Apple describes the behavior this way: “When the user activates your keyboard, it replaces the system keyboard.” Read Apple’s custom keyboard documentation.

- Can't Connect the Bluetooth? Please reset the keyboard and then reconnect the Bluetooth: 1. Turn on the keyboarad; 2. Press and hold the first and the last key at the top row of the keyboard until all indicators start flashing; 3. Bluetooth light flickers quickly, auto entering Bluetooth pairing mode (If not, press Fn + 1 or 2); 4. Search and find "Wireless keyboard".
- Multi-OS Compatible: The keyboard is widely compatible with Android, Windows and iOS devices. Also the basic typing function works with other OS devices such as fire tablets.
- Connect 2 Devices: Seamless switching between 2 Bluetooth devices (iOS/Android/Windows) with single-tap transitions (Fn+"1"/ "2").
- Orange Keys for Productivity Boost: The color-coded design help you to position the keys effortlessly and reduce mistyping. The orange keys are more visible than standard keys, engineered for speed typists.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: Only 6oz weight and slim 0.6in profile fits in most handbags. The flexible hinge allows you to fold it up for travel – perfect for coffee shops, flights, or campus life.
Custom keyboards are not available everywhere: Apple’s design guidance says they cannot be used in secure text fields or phone-number fields, and an app can block third-party keyboards entirely. Before choosing one, check its current App Store listing and privacy details. These limits mean a custom keyboard may not appear in every app or field.

No. A connected physical keyboard is a separate input device. Its settings concern the physical keyboard’s layouts, controls, or accessibility; they do not change the appearance of the iPhone’s onscreen keyboard. Apple’s external keyboard guide covers those controls.
