Can you change factions in AION 2 after choosing Elyos or Asmodians? NCSOFT’s official guidance explains how to choose a faction when starting, but the official materials reviewed do not document a way to transfer an existing character to the other faction. That does not prove a transfer feature is impossible or unavailable in every current client version, so check your region’s live game or a newer official notice before choosing on the assumption you can switch later.
What the official guidance confirms
NCSOFT describes the initial setup sequence as choosing a region, then a faction, then a server available in that region. Its launch information also says Elyos and Asmodians live on separate servers. The setup guidance does not describe changing an existing character’s faction afterward. The most precise answer is therefore: a post-creation faction change is not documented in the official sources cited here. Those sources do not establish that transfers are categorically impossible, either. Check the current client or a newer official notice for your region if you need a definitive answer before committing time to a character.

Can Elyos and Asmodians play together?
They can meet as opponents in certain modes. NCSOFT says faction servers are paired temporarily, and identifies Spacetime Rifts and the Abyss as modes where opposing players come from the matched server. The official material confirms separate faction servers and temporary pairings, but does not spell out every current party, dungeon, or social restriction. If you and friends want to join a specific activity together, check that activity’s current in-game rules rather than assuming the server pairing makes all group play possible.
Does lifting server-creation restrictions let you switch?
No such conclusion follows from that update. NCSOFT’s February 23, 2026 announcement said server-creation restrictions had been lifted at that time; it concerns server creation, not a character faction-transfer service. What to consider before choosing a faction
- Coordinate with friends. Factions have separate servers, so check which faction and server your friends intend to select.
- Do not rely on a later transfer. The official guidance reviewed does not document one; verify current availability in your region if switching later is essential to you.
- Do not use server counts to guess population. NCSOFT’s October 16, 2025 reservation announcement listed 10 launch servers for Elyos and 10 for Asmodians. That is a historical launch-era count, not a current server count or population measure. NCSOFT’s October 16, 2025 reservation announcement
