“Password-protected” can describe several different mechanisms. They are not interchangeable: a capture service needs a method compatible with the target site’s authentication flow.
- HTTP Basic Authentication: the server presents an authentication challenge, commonly before serving the page.
- Website login form: a user submits credentials through a page, after which the site may issue a session cookie. Some flows also require JavaScript, MFA, or other steps.

- Confirm authorization. Capture only pages and accounts you are permitted to access.
- Ask ShrinkTheWeb about the precise mechanism. Say whether the page uses Basic Auth, a browser login and session cookie, or a token/custom header. Request the current parameter format and any limits on redirects or JavaScript-rendered pages.
