HNT is Helium’s native network token

MOBILE is a separate token associated with Helium’s Mobile Network. Coinbase’s migration notice directs holders to convert MOBILE to HNT using the Helium Wallet app. Helium’s HIP 138 overview describes a move to consolidate network rewards into HNT; it also says legacy MOBILE and IOT remain tradable and redeemable for HNT on Solana until full implementation. Because implementation status can change, check current official guidance rather than treating the transition as complete.

If you hold MOBILE, check the migration instructions first
- Open Coinbase’s current MOBILE migration notice and confirm its status and instructions.
- Use the official Helium Wallet app documentation to understand the wallet route. Helium says the app displays HNT and MOBILE balances, as well as IOT, DC, SOL, and USDC.
- Before approving any transaction, review the asset, destination, network, fees, and other trade details shown in the app. Coinbase’s DEX instructions also tell users to review trade details and fees.
- Keep your wallet recovery phrase private. Helium warns that recovery depends on the seed phrase; never share it with anyone.
The cited pages do not establish that Coinbase automatically migrates every balance, that conversion is reversible or fee-free, or that it is available in every jurisdiction. Follow the live official instructions for your specific account and wallet.
Before using Coinbase DEX or making a purchase
- Verify that the route and token are currently available to you; regional support and account access can differ.
- Check the final transaction details and fees before confirming. Costs, liquidity, and the route presented can vary.

Are Helium Mobile hotspots required?
No. Helium Mobile hotspot hardware is for people who want to deploy network coverage; it is not needed to buy or hold MOBILE or HNT.
