What “blocking an app” can mean
Before changing settings, identify the result you want. Hiding or removing an app from the home screen, requiring a PIN to open an app, and filtering content by age rating are different controls. The official VIZIO guidance cited here documents WatchFree+ age filters and certain channel and program restrictions; it does not document a system-wide setting to PIN-lock an individual built-in streaming app.

What parental controls are available on VIZIO TVs?

Set WatchFree+ age filters in the VIZIO mobile app
VIZIO’s mobile-app page says WatchFree+ parental controls are available under the app’s Account tab, then WatchFree+. It lists Family Friendly, Teens, and Adult as the categories. These filters apply to WatchFree+ content; they do not prevent someone from opening another streaming app.
Use TV PIN controls only for supported channels and programs
On the documented V-Series 2020 model, the manual gives this route: Menu > TV Channels > Parental Controls, then enter the PIN. The menu is available when using the tuner or certain directly connected composite or coaxial sources. The manual describes locking channels and blocking programs by rating, with an option to block unrated shows. A system PIN must be set to access Parental Controls.

These instructions are specific to the model and sources described in that manual, not a method for locking a built-in app. Older VIZIO Internet Apps models also had channel locks and rating blocks, but the legacy manual is not evidence that the same controls or menus exist on every current TV. For YouTube, Netflix, or another streaming service, check its own settings
VIZIO’s SmartCast Mobile app listing says each third-party app developer determines the availability and adjustment of parental controls for its app. For a service such as YouTube or Netflix, look in that service’s account, profile, or parental settings for the controls it offers. The available settings vary by service. A service-level content restriction is not the same as requiring a PIN before the VIZIO TV opens the app.

Check your exact TV model before following menu steps
- Find the TV’s model number, typically on its label or in its system information.
- Open VIZIO’s support portal and locate the matching manual or model-specific help.
- Confirm the model’s menu names and the input or source you are using before changing parental-control settings.

What if you need to prevent access to one app?
If your specific TV or app exposes an app-lock option, verify it in the matching manual and the app’s own settings rather than assuming the TV’s channel PIN controls cover it. The VIZIO documentation cited here does not establish that router settings, a replacement remote, or an external streaming device can reliably block one selected app on the TV.
