If you need a specific height, use --height; check width, cropping, and JavaScript timing if the result is incomplete.
How the default full-page capture works
The Debian unstable wkhtmltoimage manpage says screen height is calculated from page content by default. In ordinary cases, you can start with a basic command and let the tool determine the height:

This is not a guarantee that every long page or layout will be captured in full. The manual gives no universal maximum height, and it does not promise full rendering for every page structure.

Use --height <int> to set the screen height explicitly. For example:

Choose a height large enough for the content you intend to include. An explicit value controls the capture height; it does not ensure that page content beyond that point will appear. Compare the output with the page and adjust the value if necessary.

Check width and cropping
Width changes page layout
Set --width deliberately when the output should match a particular viewport. The manpage describes width as a guide unless strict width is enabled. A different width can change text wrapping, which can change the page’s total content height and therefore the resulting image.
Crop options can cut off content
Inspect the command for --crop-y. A crop setting can intentionally limit the captured area, making an otherwise tall page appear incomplete. Width, height, and cropping are separate controls; check each rather than assuming that a short image means the page itself is short.

Wait for JavaScript-driven pages
For pages whose content is produced or updated by JavaScript, the manpage documents two readiness options:
--javascript-delay <msec>waits for the specified number of milliseconds.--window-status <windowStatus>waits for a matching window status string.
These options can help with timing, but neither proves that every script, image, or asynchronous task has completed. Test the actual page and allow enough time for the content you need to appear.

Diagnose a capture that stops early
- Check whether height was set. If so, confirm that the chosen
--heightcovers the intended document. - Look for cropping. Remove or revise
--crop-yif it is limiting the output. - Inspect the layout. Content inside an element with its own scrolling area may not behave like content extending the main document. The manual does not establish a universal fix for internal-scroll layouts.
- Check whether the missing content rendered. If scripts or delayed assets create it, try an appropriate JavaScript wait option and verify the result.
- Record the installed version and reproduce the capture. Historical reports include a 0.12.2 failure report with a fix milestone of 0.12.2.1, and a separate report on 0.12.2.1 that was closed as invalid. These reports do not establish behavior for every build or page.
