In CNET reviewer James Bricknell’s hands-on use, the Sonicmax Slice 10 ultrasonic craft knife was most effective on plastics, including PLA and ABS, for trimming supports and cleaning up small defects. It also handled leather well, but it could melt some low-melting-point plastics despite claims of low-temperature operation. That makes it a potentially useful detail tool—not a universal replacement for other print-cleanup methods.
What the Sonicmax Slice 10 is for
The Slice 10 is a handheld ultrasonic craft knife intended for detail work such as removing 3D-print supports, burrs and small surface defects. Its small blade is useful when a cut needs to navigate a complex shape or reach a tight spot. The review describes a tool for post-processing, rather than establishing that it is the fastest or best choice for every support-removal job.

Can it remove 3D-print supports?
Bricknell’s account supports using the Slice 10 for support removal and other small cleanup cuts, particularly where a small blade helps with a complicated shape. It does not establish that the tool is preferable for breaking away large support structures or that it leaves every printed surface undamaged. For a print with bulky supports, treat bulk removal and fine cleanup as separate jobs: use the cutter where its size and control help, and check the part as you work.

What to watch for when cutting plastic
Low-temperature operation does not mean there is no heat-related risk. The review says the Slice 10 can still melt some low-melting-point plastics. A cutter that works well on one plastic may behave differently on another, and the source does not provide a comprehensive material list or tested operating settings. Try an inconspicuous area or a spare print first, use light, controlled cuts, and stop if the material deforms or melts.
Safety and practical limits
The review describes an automatic shutoff when the tool is set down, intended to prevent blade vibration in that state. This feature does not make the sharp blade harmless and is not evidence of a safety certification. Handle and store it as a sharp cutting tool, and follow the instructions supplied with the product.

The cited review also mentions extra rechargeable batteries but does not give an exact compatible battery part number. Confirm compatibility with the seller or manufacturer before buying replacements; the review is not a parts specification.
Should you consider the Slice 10?
It is worth considering if your main need is controlled, small-scale cleanup on plastic prints and you value a narrow blade for intricate cuts. The reported results are less encouraging for cloth, and heat-sensitive plastics call for extra caution. The review offers no controlled comparison with flush cutters, hobby knives or other ultrasonic cutters, so it cannot establish which tool is best for your workflow.
