Sony’s published answer in its 2020 PS5 FAQ is: “No, the PS5 system doesn’t include a dedicated web browser app.” Some users report opening web pages through links, but Sony does not document that route as a supported browser feature. A page opening is not evidence that its video player will work.

How to watch YouTube on PS5
- From the Games home screen, open Media and select All Apps.
- Choose YouTube and select Download.
- Open YouTube and follow the app’s instructions to find and play videos.
Sony says YouTube playback in 4K requires a PS5 configured for 4K, a 4K display, and a steady internet connection of at least 25 Mbps. Those are Sony’s stated requirements for 4K viewing, not a guarantee that every video or network will play at that resolution. See Sony’s YouTube setup guidance.

How to find other streaming services
Open the PS5’s Media home or TV & Video area, choose an available service, then follow that app’s playback instructions. Sony notes that service availability varies by country or region; the catalog shown on your console may differ from one elsewhere. Its streaming-service instructions cover the console’s supported viewing route.

Why the hidden-browser route is a poor substitute
The workaround is not equivalent to a supported browser app. Sony’s documentation does not confirm whether arbitrary sites, embedded players, or their video formats will work through link-launched access. A user discussion describing Google running on PS5 is anecdotal and does not establish reliable video compatibility. Treat any success on a particular page as site-specific rather than proof that the method will work elsewhere.
