Streamlabs’ Mobile instructions describe two basic ways to broadcast: use the phone camera or stream phone-screen content. They also cover scene customization with widgets, overlay themes, and custom images, but do not document selecting a video from the camera roll or another local folder as a direct media source. Streamlabs’ Mobile guide and its YouTube-from-phone guide therefore do not establish a direct local-file playback workflow.

Can screen sharing show a video from your phone?
Possibly: screen streaming is the Mobile route that might expose content playing in another app. But that is a workaround, not a documented local-file scene source. The available guidance does not guarantee that a particular phone’s screen stream will include the player’s video and audio. Screen-capture restrictions, audio routing, and protected content can also affect what reaches a broadcast; verify the result before relying on it.

- Start a private or otherwise low-risk test broadcast using Streamlabs Mobile’s screen-streaming option.
- Open the local video player and play a short segment. Check the broadcast from a second device or account to confirm that both picture and sound arrive.
- If either is missing, or you need to cue and switch clips predictably, do not assume screen sharing will be dependable on that device. Use a workflow with a documented media source instead.
These checks are practical precautions, not settings guaranteed by Streamlabs’ documentation. Follow YouTube’s current account-specific live settings and make sure you have the rights to broadcast the video and audio.
When a computer workflow is a better fit
Streamlabs documents scenes and sources in its computer-based Desktop workflow. If a pre-recorded clip needs to be a controlled part of a production, inspect the source options in the installed Desktop version and confirm it exposes the file or media source you need. The documentation establishes Desktop scenes and sources generally; it does not, by itself, verify a particular video-file control or guarantee its behavior in your setup.

Streamlabs also documents an Android Mobile LAN feature that sends a phone camera or screen feed to Desktop over the same local network, where it can be added as a Desktop Media Source.
