This saves only what the extension can access and process; it does not bypass a login or guarantee a complete offline copy. SingleFileZ’s repository says it has been merged into SingleFile, so start with the current SingleFile project and its file-format options.
How to try saving a page you can already access
- Open the page in your browser and sign in through the site as usual. SingleFile does not sign in for you.
- Wait until the specific content you need is visible. If the page fills in sections, images, or other material after the initial render, wait for those elements to appear.
- Click the extension’s toolbar button while that page is the active tab. The documented workflow is to let the page load, then invoke the extension to process and save it.
- Open the saved file and check that the required text, images, frames, and other page resources are actually present.
A page being visible in a signed-in tab does not ensure that every part will be captured. Some pages restrict extension access, and site-specific rendering or access controls can leave an archive incomplete. The documentation does not provide a compatibility guarantee for every login system.

First check: SingleFileZ’s current project status
The SingleFileZ repository says, “SingleFileZ has been completely merged into SingleFile,” and directs users to SingleFile’s file-format options for self-extracting files. The Firefox Add-ons listing still describes SingleFileZ as an add-on for Firefox desktop and mobile, which can make the project’s status confusing. For current guidance, consult the SingleFile project rather than assuming the older project listing describes the latest workflow.
Why a logged-in page may not save completely
The extension cannot run on that page
Browser security can block extensions on certain domains. SingleFile’s FAQ gives browser add-on pages as examples of pages that cannot be saved with the extension. If the extension is unavailable or cannot run on the target page, that is different from a capture that runs but misses content.

Content has not finished loading
Some sites render or fetch page sections after the initial load. Wait until the material you need has appeared in the tab before starting the save. The available documentation does not promise that every site-specific dynamic element will be captured.
The page depends on access-controlled behavior
An archive should be treated as a copy of the content the extension managed to process, not as a preserved, live authenticated session. The documentation does not guarantee that protected resources or interactive features will continue to work offline.

If capture fails: troubleshooting sequence
- Try a private window. This can help identify whether the issue is tied to the regular browser profile.
- Reset SingleFile options. If private-window testing does not help, the official troubleshooting guidance suggests resetting the extension’s options.
- Restart the browser. Try again after a restart.
- Temporarily disable other extensions. This checks whether another add-on is interfering with the capture.
- Inspect the result, not just the save notification. Verify the specific text and resources you need in the saved page; a file being created does not establish that the archive is complete.
These are general troubleshooting steps, not a guarantee that a particular login-protected site will work. The official documentation does not establish compatibility with every identity provider, browser release, or site protection mechanism.

SingleFileZ’s FAQ describes its output as a self-extracting ZIP/HTML hybrid. Opening such files locally has browser-specific constraints: the FAQ says JavaScript must be enabled to open saved pages and notes Chrome’s local-file restrictions. These are constraints on opening the saved output, separate from whether the extension can process the signed-in tab.

If you need remote storage after capture, the SingleFile project lists Google Drive, Dropbox, GitHub, and WebDAV as possible destinations. Choose a destination based on your storage needs; saving to one does not make an incomplete capture complete.
