No. You cannot enable DLSS Multi Frame Generation on GeForce RTX 20-Series or RTX 30-Series GPUs. NVIDIA lists the feature for RTX 50-Series hardware; its NVIDIA App override does not remove that requirement. Older RTX cards can still use other DLSS features supported for their generation.
Which DLSS features work on RTX 20-, 30-, 40- and 50-Series?
“DLSS” is a family of features, not one compatibility switch. NVIDIA’s feature matrix separates Super Resolution, standard Frame Generation and Multi Frame Generation by GPU generation:

| DLSS feature | GPU generations listed by NVIDIA |
|---|---|
| Super Resolution | RTX 20-, 30-, 40- and 50-Series |
| Frame Generation | RTX 40- and 50-Series |
| Multi Frame Generation | RTX 50-Series |
That means an RTX 20- or 30-Series card may show a DLSS option in a game and support Super Resolution, but that does not mean it can run Multi Frame Generation. [NVIDIA’s DLSS feature information]
Why the NVIDIA App override does not work on older GPUs
The NVIDIA App includes a DLSS Multi Frame Generation Override for supported titles on RTX 50-Series. NVIDIA’s instructions require Frame Generation to be enabled in the game first; the override is offered under Graphics > Program Settings > Driver Settings. It applies to supported games and does not unlock the feature on RTX 20- or 30-Series hardware. [NVIDIA App DLSS overrides]

- AI Performance: 767 AI TOPS
- OC mode: 2632 MHz (OC mode)/ 2602 MHz (Default mode)
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
How to enable the override on supported RTX 50-Series hardware
- In the game’s graphics settings, turn on Frame Generation.
- Open NVIDIA App and select Graphics > Program Settings.
- Select the game, then find Driver Settings.
- Enable DLSS Multi Frame Generation Override.
The setting applies only to supported titles and hardware. NVIDIA App and driver updates may change menu labels or supported-game coverage.

Use the DLSS features supported by your GPU and the game. NVIDIA lists Super Resolution for RTX 20- and 30-Series, so an older card can still use that feature where available. A DLSS model override is not a way to activate Multi Frame Generation: NVIDIA’s DLSS 4.5 information notes that RTX 20- and 30-Series lack native FP8 support and that some newer models can have a heavier performance impact on those cards, but that is a separate issue from Multi Frame Generation compatibility. If Multi Frame Generation itself is the goal, NVIDIA identifies RTX 50-Series as the supported hardware path. Upgrading is optional and only necessary if you specifically want that feature; it is not required to use the DLSS functions supported by an older GPU. NVIDIA describes Multi Frame Generation as generating up to five AI frames for each traditionally rendered frame on RTX 50-Series. That is a stated maximum capability, not a guaranteed game frame rate. [NVIDIA DLSS technology]
