Yes. Restream can start a scheduled pre-recorded YouTube event automatically while your computer is off. You need to upload the video and configure the event ahead of time; for a repeating single video, Restream documents a maximum of 10 loops and a maximum event runtime of 40 hours. Looping is a paid feature, and it does not provide an indefinite 24/7 stream.
How to schedule a pre-recorded YouTube stream in Restream
You can use a desktop or mobile device to prepare the event. Once a scheduled event is set up, Restream says it starts automatically at the chosen time, so the device used for setup does not need to stay online.

- Enable YouTube live streaming. If this is your first time streaming, follow YouTube’s channel activation requirements before planning the event. Restream’s YouTube guidance says the channel owner should connect the channel, complete phone verification, and wait 24 hours before first-time streaming. See Restream’s YouTube setup guidance.
- Connect your YouTube channel to Restream. Use the channel owner’s account and make sure YouTube is enabled as a destination.
- Upload or import your video. Restream supports uploads from desktop and mobile, as well as imports from Google Drive and Dropbox. Its Upload & Stream guide describes the workflow.
- Create a pre-recorded event. In Restream, choose the prerecorded livestream/event workflow, select the video, add event details, set the scheduled time, and select YouTube as the destination. Create the event before the broadcast time; Restream says it will begin automatically.
- Set repeats if needed. When configuring the video event, choose the loop count. Restream documents up to 10 repetitions in one event. Its looping guide explains the limit and runtime.
The key distinction is preparation versus airtime: you need a device to upload and configure the event, but not to keep the scheduled broadcast running.

Repeating one video
Restream’s help documentation describes looping as a paid feature available with its Marathon and Media add-on plans. It permits up to 10 repetitions, and a looped event can run for at most 40 hours. Those are vendor-stated product limits, not independently tested figures; check Restream’s current plan information before choosing a plan, since entitlements can change.

Repeating a playlist
Restream says playlist looping is not supported as a one-click feature. Its documented workaround is to duplicate videos in the playlist, up to the 40-entry playlist limit. That creates a finite sequence; it is not evidence of an indefinite 24/7 broadcast.
Plan and branding details
Restream’s scheduling information lists Premier, Marathon, and Media tiers with differing video-library and resolution limits. The exact limits and plan names may change, so verify them on the current plan page rather than relying on an old price or storage figure. Restream also says free users’ event thumbnails include Restream branding. Its YouTube event guide says Restream Events are available on all plans; see the YouTube event guide.

Prepare the video to meet Restream’s stated requirements
Restream’s video requirements guide specifies these accepted containers and media settings:
- Container: MP4, MOV, M4V, or MKV.
- Video: H.264 encoding is required.
- Audio: AAC is required.
- Keyframe interval: 2.
- Recommended output: 1080p at 30 or 60 FPS.
- Buffer at the ends: Restream recommends adding 15–20 seconds at the beginning and end so platform processing does not cut into important content.
These are Restream’s published requirements and recommendations; they are not independent upload-test results. If a file fails to upload or process, check the container, codecs, and keyframe interval first.

What to check before the broadcast
- Channel activation: Confirm YouTube live streaming is enabled before scheduling. Restream’s guidance says first-time streaming requires phone verification and a 24-hour wait.
- Correct channel ownership: Connect the YouTube channel owner’s account, not an account without the necessary channel access.
- Destination and event time: Verify YouTube is selected and the scheduled time is correct, including the intended time zone.
- Repeat count and duration: A single-video loop is capped at 10 repetitions and 40 hours; a duplicated playlist is finite and capped at 40 entries.
- Rights and platform rules: Only schedule material you have the rights to broadcast. YouTube’s copyright and live-stream policies still apply to prerecorded content; scheduling it through Restream does not grant music, footage, or other permissions.
Troubleshooting a scheduled Restream video
The event does not start
- Confirm the event was created and scheduled, rather than only uploaded as a video.
- Check that YouTube is selected as a destination and that the connected channel is the intended channel.
- If the channel has never streamed, verify that live streaming is enabled and that the phone-verification and 24-hour first-use requirements have been completed.
The video will not upload or process
- Check that the file uses one of the listed containers: MP4, MOV, M4V, or MKV.
- Verify H.264 video, AAC audio, and a keyframe interval of 2 against Restream’s published requirements.
- If the file matches those requirements but still fails, consult Restream support; the documentation does not establish a universal fix for every upload failure.
The repeat or playlist plan will not work as expected
- For one video, choose a loop count within the documented 10-repeat maximum and keep total event runtime within 40 hours.
- For multiple videos, do not expect a playlist to loop indefinitely. Duplicate entries within the 40-entry limit for a finite sequence, or choose a service designed for continuous looping.
- Check the current Restream plan page to confirm that looping is included in the plan or add-on available to your account.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a continuous YouTube channel built from uploaded videos, StreamNeo is an alternative designed to keep a YouTube stream running from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; the video streams as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. It is a YouTube-only service for uploaded videos, not camera streaming. Start your free StreamNeo day.
