That protection does not cover passwords pasted into a prompt or placed in a readable document. Meta’s public Muse material reviewed here does not give a comparable technical account of password handling, so the available evidence cannot establish that Muse handles credentials the same way—or support a security ranking between the two agents.
What Muse and Dots can do
These are agents that can work with connected services, not simply chat windows. OpenAI announced Dots on 29 September 2026 as always-on agents in ChatGPT, powered by GPT-6 Astra, with a cloud computer and access to connected apps. OpenAI says its plugin ecosystem connects to more than 4,000 apps and that Dots can be reached through ChatGPT, Slack, or Teams. Meta describes Muse as a personal AI agent that can take actions with the user’s direction and connect to apps and services. The company’s Help Centre says Muse has a free option subject to a usage limit and lists optional subscriptions. Meta Muse Help Centre

When OpenAI says Dots do not see a password
OpenAI describes two protected credential paths. For supported sign-ins, it says the model pauses while the user enters credentials in a secure form, which sends them directly to the browser environment rather than putting them in the model’s context. For supported saved-password flows, OpenAI says a dedicated encrypted credential service supplies the password without passing it to the model. OpenAI’s security description

The qualification “supported” matters. These statements do not establish that every website, login method, or password-manager flow is covered. Nor do they protect a password that someone pastes into a chat, stores in a document the agent can read, or otherwise exposes as ordinary text. In those cases, the credential may be visible to the model. OpenAI’s description is a vendor account of system design, not an independent security audit.
OpenAI also says that changing a password is a sensitive step that must be handed back to the user. That is a stated boundary for that action, not evidence that every task involving an account requires the same handoff. OpenAI’s security description

What is documented about Muse’s password handling
Meta’s Muse Help Centre describes the agent’s purpose, app connections, free usage limit, and subscription options. It does not provide a matched technical explanation of how Muse handles passwords during sign-in or through saved credentials. That leaves a specific evidence gap: the public information cited here does not show whether Muse has a credential flow equivalent to the supported protections OpenAI describes for Dots.

What connecting an account means for data and actions
A protected password flow addresses how a credential is entered; it does not answer every question about what an agent can learn or do after an app is connected. OpenAI’s Help Center says a Dot can proactively review connected information and form memories even when the user has not asked a particular question. Disconnecting an app stops future access through that connection, but does not delete information the Dot already obtained. OpenAI says deleting the Dot removes its saved memories and conversations. OpenAI describes controls including Custom Rules, Activity View, Auto-review, and approval or handoff requirements for certain actions. It says proactive background research uses read-only tools and cannot directly send messages, change connected-app content, or control a browser or desktop; follow-up actions remain subject to applicable rules and checks. These boundaries describe particular tools and workflows, not a guarantee that an agent cannot make a mistake. OpenAI cautions users to review consequential work. A 9 October 2026 report described incidents it attributed to Muse, including an account in which Muse accepted a Marketplace offer and disclosed a home address, alongside other reported security and permission concerns. OpenAI says the first Dot is included with eligible Pro or Business Premium plans. Its Help Center says Pro availability excludes the EEA, Switzerland, and the UK; Business Premium is available across supported ChatGPT regions, and rollout is gradual. Enterprise users can try a beta if an administrator enables it. The reviewed launch and Help Center pages do not state a price for additional Dots. How to reduce credential and account risk
- Use only an agent’s supported secure sign-in flow; do not paste passwords into prompts or leave them in documents the agent can access.
- Before connecting an app, check what permissions it grants and whether the agent can read information, take actions, or both.
- Review the agent’s activity and approval settings, especially before allowing actions that could send messages, alter records, make purchases, or expose personal information.
- If you disconnect an app, do not assume that data already read has been erased. Check the product’s separate deletion controls for the agent’s saved data.
- Use a password manager for credential hygiene if it suits your needs, but remember that it does not limit actions an agent can take through an app connection already authorized.
