What Storybook Loki produces
Loki’s CLI reference describes loki test as a command for capturing screenshots and comparing them. It identifies folders for references, screenshot output, and image differences; loki update captures and updates references, while loki approve approves images. The getting-started guide says Loki creates screenshots of tested stories in loki/current and visual differences in loki/difference.
The configuration documentation describes screenshot cropping and image-diff engines, but does not list PDF as an output format. The relevant documentation pages report being last updated on August 27, 2024. That establishes what those docs describe; it does not rule out a custom script, integration, or later change.

How to make a PDF from Loki screenshots
Choose the conversion route based on what the PDF needs to preserve. Turning captured images into PDF pages keeps the visual appearance of those images, but the content remains image-based rather than selectable text. Printing a live webpage to PDF creates a document from the page itself, not from Loki’s already-captured image files, so it may not match the screenshot exactly.
Convert captured images
- Run your normal Loki capture workflow and locate the image files in the configured screenshot output folder (the getting-started guide refers to
loki/current). - Use an image-to-PDF tool or a script outside Loki to place the images into a PDF, typically one image per page.
- Check page size, orientation, scaling, and ordering in the resulting PDF. These are conversion choices, not Loki settings.
Print a webpage to PDF
If the goal is a PDF of the live story rather than a PDF assembled from Loki’s screenshots, open the relevant Storybook page in a browser and use its print-to-PDF workflow. This captures the rendered page through the browser’s print process; it is separate from Loki’s screenshot capture and comparison.

Which workflow fits?
- Need a PDF archive of the actual Loki captures: convert Loki’s saved image files so the PDF reflects those images.
