Not directly, according to Larix’s published documentation. Larix Broadcaster is documented for live mobile capture and streaming, but its documented inputs do not include selecting a prerecorded video in Google Drive and sending that file to YouTube Live. A possible workaround is to play the video on your phone or tablet and stream the screen with Larix Screencaster. Whether the video’s sound is captured depends on the device, operating system and app, so test it before going public.
What Larix Broadcaster can—and cannot—do with a Drive video
Softvelum describes Larix Broadcaster as mobile broadcasting software for iOS and Android. Its documented capabilities include capturing live video and audio, recording, publishing over RTMP(S), and using USB OTG video or audio sources. The published documentation reviewed does not describe opening a prerecorded Google Drive file as a direct encoder source.

That means you should not assume you can choose a Drive file inside Larix Broadcaster and stream it as a video source. This is a conclusion from the documented features, not a claim that every possible device-specific workaround has been tested.

Softvelum documents screen capture and streaming in Larix Screencaster. In principle, you can play the Drive video on a mobile device and stream what appears on its screen. This is screen capture, not direct file input: the device must play the video while Screencaster captures the display.

Before you start
- Install Larix Screencaster on the device that will play the video.
- Make sure you can access and play the video from Google Drive on that device.
- Enable YouTube live streaming in advance. YouTube says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours.
- Plan a private or unlisted test stream so you can confirm both picture and sound before broadcasting publicly.
Configure YouTube and Larix
- Enable live streaming: In YouTube Studio, enable live streaming for your channel. If this is the first time, allow for YouTube’s stated setup time of up to 24 hours.
- Create or select the live stream: In YouTube Studio, open the stream’s encoder settings and copy the YouTube server or ingestion URL and stream key.
- Add the destination in Larix: In the Larix connection settings, enter the YouTube server URL and stream name/key as required by the connection form. Larix’s setup reference describes combining the destination URL and stream name/key in its connection settings.
- Start a private or unlisted test: Start screen capture, play the Drive video, and verify in YouTube that the image and audio arrive as expected. Do not rely on the video preview alone to confirm sound.
- Go public only after checking the result: If the test works, stop it and set up the intended public broadcast in YouTube Studio. Keep the stream key private; treat it like a credential and replace it if it is exposed.
The audio limitation matters
Screen capture does not guarantee app audio. Softvelum’s Android guidance says Android 10 and later can capture audio from apps that support external recording. Its iOS guidance describes restrictions and reliance on ReplayKit for app audio. Whether the current Google Drive app permits audio capture on a particular device is not established here. Test on your own device and app combination; if the picture arrives without sound, the issue may be audio-capture support rather than the YouTube destination settings.
When this workaround is—and is not—a good fit
- Consider it if you only need to show a video that you can play on a mobile device and you can confirm the audio works in a test.
- Do not treat it as direct Drive streaming: the video is being played and screen-captured, not selected as a file source in Larix Broadcaster.
- Test your exact setup: audio behavior can vary with operating system and app support. The cited documentation does not establish device-specific results or reliability for your configuration.
- If the recording is yours and you want a file-based workflow, use a service that accepts an uploaded recording rather than assuming Larix Broadcaster can ingest a Drive file directly.
