Not as a verified standard offer. Apple lists iPhone Duo from $1,999, while its Apple Upgrade listing shows a starting lease rate of $57.99 per month for 24 months or $82.99 for 12 months before an individual trade-in credit. A $9 monthly payment would have to be a specific checkout result based on your device, its condition, the Duo configuration, lease term and taxes.
What Apple’s published prices actually show
Apple’s U.S. product page lists iPhone Duo from $1,999. Apple’s September 2026 announcement also gives a separate figure of $83.29 per month for 24 months for the announced base configuration. That is not the same product as an Apple Upgrade lease quote.

How an Apple Upgrade trade-in lowers the payment
Apple Upgrade is a lease administered by Klarna, not a conventional installment plan that automatically ends with ownership. Apple says an eligible device you own can be traded in when you first enroll, lowering payments during that initial lease term.
#1 Best Overall
- Vibrant 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with OLED technology. Action mode for smooth, steady, handheld videos.
The credit is device-specific
Apple says trade-in value depends on the device, model, manufacturer and condition. Klarna applies the approved credit across payments for the initial 12- or 24-month term. Apple does not publish one universal iPhone Duo trade-in amount that would reduce every customer’s bill to $9.
Inspection can change the result
The trade-in must arrive within the required timeframe and match the condition described during checkout. If it is not returned, or Apple/Klarna finds it is not in good working condition, the monthly payment is updated to reflect the adjusted value. A displayed estimate is therefore not a guaranteed final credit.

- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.

- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
What would have to be true for $9/month?
A $9 figure could only be responsibly presented as a personalized scenario. The starting lease payment would need to be reduced by a sufficiently large approved trade-in credit, with the exact result depending on:
- the eligible phone or other device being traded in;
- its model, storage, age and inspected condition;
- the iPhone Duo storage configuration;
- a 12- or 24-month Apple Upgrade term;
- sales tax and any optional coverage or other charges; and
- the final Apple/Klarna checkout quote.
For example, a $9 quote shown after entering a particular device and condition would describe that transaction only. It should not be advertised as the normal price or as the maximum trade-in value available to everyone. The supplied information does not include the device, condition or checkout calculation needed to verify such a scenario.

Do you own iPhone Duo after the lease?
No. Apple says that at the end of an Apple Upgrade lease you can choose one of three paths:
- Upgrade: return the leased iPhone and begin a new eligible lease.
- Leave the program: return the device.
- Buy it: use Apple’s purchase option under the applicable terms.
Returning the phone in good working condition matters. Damage can result in fees. The trade-in credit used during the initial term is not applied again when you upgrade.

What if you want to upgrade or stop early?
Apple says an early upgrade or termination requires payment of the remaining lease payments plus applicable taxes. That means a low monthly figure does not make the arrangement cost-free to exit. Compare the total payments for the selected term, the trade-in credit, possible condition adjustments, taxes, and any amount required to buy the device.
When iPhone Duo goes on sale

iPhone Duo was announced in star white and night sky with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB capacities. Apple also announced a two-part iPhone Duo Case for $79 and an iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand for $129; accessory prices do not support the $9 lease claim.
How to check your own monthly price
- Choose the iPhone Duo storage configuration and open the Apple Upgrade option.
- Select a 12- or 24-month lease term.
- Enter the device you own for trade-in and answer Apple’s condition questions accurately.
- Review the estimated credit and the revised monthly payment after Apple/Klarna applies it.
- Check whether taxes, coverage and other charges are included, then read the return, damage, purchase and early-exit terms.
- Keep the final checkout quote. Only that quote can substantiate a $9 monthly scenario for your device.
What to compare before choosing Apple Upgrade
- Total cost: multiply the payment by the lease term and account for taxes and any purchase amount.
- Ownership: decide whether you need to own the phone or are comfortable returning it.
- Trade-in risk: allow for a lower credit if inspection finds damage or a different condition.
- Flexibility: check the cost of leaving or upgrading before the term ends.
- Alternatives: compare the current carrier offer, Apple financing and one-time purchase price rather than assuming the lowest monthly number is cheapest.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Apple’s published material does not verify $9/month as a standard iPhone Duo Apple Upgrade price. Trade-in can lower the initial 12- or 24-month lease payment, but only a live quote for your specific device, condition, configuration, term and taxes can show whether $9 is achievable—and the lease does not automatically give you ownership.
